Talon ESI-T said:Log manifolds promote the ability of exhaust gases to collide in the manifold reducing the efficiency of the design. Equal length manifold are far more efficient for exhaust gas velocity and turbo spool. A well designed tubular manifold will both reduce the low end loss of a turbo motor and increase the potential of the turbo spool time. This is basic knowledge.
The reason turbo kits are built with log manifolds is due to space and cost. 341 stainless steel is extremely expensive and highly superior to 304 stainless. the flange alone costs close to 100.00 where a mild steel flange is 35.00. 341 stainless has more titanium in it which will contain heat more efficiently. A 341 stainless head contains heat better than 304 with ceramic coating. Then agian the material alone is about 450.00 without labor.
To say both log and tubular manifold are just as efficient as one another is a flat out lie and inaccurate statement. Your money is spent better elsewhere and you should only consider a tubular manifold when you are attemting to squeeze all you can from your setup.
