:thumb: was wondering if anybody sells a tubular manifold for the 420a this way i dont have to use the star cast manifold i dont like the cast manifold and dont want to get a manifold custom made thats more down time plus i dont trust anyone around here thanks

I have yet to see a reputable company make a tubular turbo manifold for 420a. There are some out there but they're of SSautochrome quality, which if you don't want down time, isn't something you should go for. Nearly all 420aT guys run log style manifolds, check out www.thestreetsource.net . They make the best looking manifold in my opinion and their customer service is top notch. :thumb:

I've seen a few good tubular manifolds before... granted, they're hard to come by. Also, almost every quality tubular manifold you'll find will be more than $800. All of them are going to need to be custom made; nobody mass produces these things.

I know one of one place, Extreme Intercoolers (http://www.extremeintercoolers.com), that made a tubular manifold for a member over at 2GNT. I asked him about his manifold and he told me to contact JR there. They quoted me around $900 for one. Apparently, though, they saved the jig to make other 420A manifolds, so your realized down time should be minimized.

Like Josh said, be very weary of SSAutochrome manifolds: these are the tubular manifolds that cost $300 or less. They've been known to crack over time...

The log manifolds are just as efficient. Save your money for other mods.

Log manifolds promote the ability of exhaust gases to collide in the manifold reducing the efficiency of the design. Equal length manifold are far more efficient for exhaust gas velocity and turbo spool. A well designed tubular manifold will both reduce the low end loss of a turbo motor and increase the potential of the turbo spool time. This is basic knowledge.

The reason turbo kits are built with log manifolds is due to space and cost. 341 stainless steel is extremely expensive and highly superior to 304 stainless. the flange alone costs close to 100.00 where a mild steel flange is 35.00. 341 stainless has more titanium in it which will contain heat more efficiently. A 341 stainless head contains heat better than 304 with ceramic coating. Then agian the material alone is about 450.00 without labor.

To say both log and tubular manifold are just as efficient as one another is a flat out lie and inaccurate statement. Your money is spent better elsewhere and you should only consider a tubular manifold when you are attemting to squeeze all you can from your setup.

Correct, but finding a reputable company making these manifolds for the 420a is the problem. Any reports of the SSautochrome manifold? Durability or reliablilty? I'd love to have a tubular manifold but I'm afraid of problems the producer may have proned if it is of low quality.
