EVO8 Brakes on 2g GSX!!

should work on a gst. the front struts and all that are the same on a gst and a gsx. the differnece is in the rear of the car :) and if the rear will bolt up to a 1g then it should to a 2g gst with np :)

If I understand this, youre not increasing the pad to rotor surface area... so what are you really upgrading?
You can have a 100000mm rotor with GSX calipers with stockish sized pads and it wont stop any better than stock. Maybe I missed something.

Biggest benefit..theres more rotor to desipate heat with, and they wont warp as easily as sock rotors would..add ss lines, and youll notice an even bigger difference.

what vehicle are the new steering knuckles from?

Com'on, guys. Braking is a form of torque. Moving the pad further out increases the length of the lever-arm.

Did I spend too much money on these?

Also does anybody have a part# or something on the so called knuckles?

I have the Baer big brake kit in front . I believe the 2 piece rotors I have are 13.0 inches. Will this whole setup be a nice worthy upgrade compared to my Baer brake setup?

My rear is using the stck 2g callipers with powerslot rotors.

You did spend too much...oh well it happens.
What would the target price have been? I notice you have Brembos on your car,Sweet! If you can give me a good idea or something i may reconsider and try and sell these or something.

Well I compared the price to buying everything brand new and we are talking about almost 2k+ if not more. I figured I'm getting all four rotors and calipers for 1k.

Aftermarket seems to want no less than 250.00 each per front rotor(EVO). Other places wanted even more. The rears were a little pricey also. I would price out all the rotors brand new to come out to about 8-$1000.00 no?

I have seen the calipers for 387.00 all four (F&R)without hardware on ebay.

ceedawg, you might want to find the Bargain Basement Big Brakes thread. With a little ingenuity, you can get into 12.5 - 13.1" rotors for about $250/pr, tops (sometimes as low as under $50/pr.) 4-pot Mitsubishi calipers are about $130/pr, and custom brackets are under $150.

I went with aluminum Wilwood FSL calipers on two-piece 12.5" aftermarket rotors and had custom steel brackets made for a bit over $100/pr. It took some tinkering but it worked.

I can assure you that you can get something the equal of the Brembos for under $400 (times about two if you add the rears) and not have to fool around with swapping spindles.

Right now I have the Baer Big brake kit on my car. I also have the Eradispeed 13" 2 piece rotors in front. I have the Baer 2 pot calipers in front with these rotors(Same calipers on the C4 Corvette and Mustang Cobra's).

I still believe the brembo's on the EVO are somewhat superior. If anything I may keep my eradispeed 2 piece 13" front rotors and use the Brembo callipers with them if possible. The rears I'll use the whole EVO8 setup.

I still want to know what the ideal price for everything I bought(EVO8 setup) would have been ideally?

LOL yeah even in my add I was selling the whole front setup, brand new, in way better condition for 600 I beleive. Instead broke it up, sold the pads for 140, calipers for 500 and still have the rotors, everybody's offering 150, but ill wait for what im asking (200)

Then when all is said and done you'll have basically sold everything for what I'm paying this guy for his brembo setup or maybe a tad less. Am I wrong?

I have not seen anyone so far sell the whole complete set with rotors incld for 4 to 500.00. Anyone get them for that price?

I wouldnt have spent a dime more than 600, yes, it takes forever to wait on a perfect setup, but is it worth it? Hell yes....just be patient, ask around, search all the forums, bid a few bids and see what comes up. Thats how I get my best deals. And 99% of the stuff I buy I can turnaround and sell for lots more money.

ok after reading through this. lemme get this straight the rear will bolt up to a 1g. but i would have to make a custom bracket for the front? the reason i'm asking again if they'll fit on a 1g is because i came upon an evo8 brakes setup for cheap. and would much rather upgrade my brakes and suspension before i start with serious power mods.

My friend put the EVO brakes on his 1g. Just made a braket.

I had the power slot rotors, ss lines, ebc green pads, and I still had to pull off to the shoulder sometimes. 520 to the wheels on pump over powers the stock braking system, for me anyway.

Larger brakes will only help prevent brake fade.

Total ability to quickly stop is a function of vehicle weight and tires.

So your braking distance from any reasonable, legal speed will be unchanged.

If you routinely need to pull onto the shoulder to avoid hitting someone, you should probably reevaluate your driving habits. You're either driving way too fast, or following much too close, or perhaps a combination of the 2.

Nope. There's a third factor that not enough people pay attention to: viz, brake bias. If you take a well-balanced car (in terms of bias) and stick larger front brakes on it, you could well end up with a car that takes much farther to stop (because you are no longer getting much if any help from the rears). There was an article in one of the popular car mags in the last few years about how a fancy front kits hurt braking performance because the car was too front-biased.

An arguable fourth factor is the interface between the driver and the car. If you put on a huge set of brakes (which almost always increases the braking torque for a given amount of line pressure), but make no changes to the master cylinder, you might find that you can no longer find the threshold.

I know it's a little past the 'bolt-on' stage, but couldn't the brake bias problem be solved by a simple proportioning valve from somewhere like... Pegasus?
