EVO8 Brakes on 2g GSX!!

I picked up the fronts and the rears on EBAY for 450.00 shipped. the swap will be way more involved than a 1g due to the bolt pattern being different, I will proabably have to find a donor rotor, cause I can't spare the money now for custom hats. The rears on the EVO's incorporate internal e-brake drum setup. I woul dhave to do another caliper, or find a way to adapt the rotor....

will the rears bolt up on a 1g?

I still use my stock master cylinder. It works fine. I don't know if EVO's master cylinder will fit ot not.

I have a EVO and a 1g DSM i wonder if i make a bracket to mount up the EVO caliper and then just have the CNC'd for this part. What would people be willing to pay for this part and that will decide if i want to take the time to make the brake mount.

So what knuckles are they? I am in Japan right now. If I knew what to look for I could probably get some for hella cheap.

The 2g knuckle is one big peice that hangs down from the top of the wheel well. The JDM knuckle from thje galant looks the same just has the right spacing to bolt the calipers to it. However, the 1g does not reach all the way up. It bolts to the strut and has a stiff lower control arm. I'm not sure what the evo has, but I know that other(newer) USDM mitsus have the same design. So one might be able to hook it up to a 1g cheaper than shipping in a pair of knuckles from overseas.

LOL I think I was the first one in the US to buy the knuckles from Mitsumissle.. but nice to see that someone else has done what is pretty easy to do.. I think i was 800$ into my setup on all 4 with everything installed..

Did Galants ever come with Brembos? Or evoIII?

Those could fit onto a 1G then

Hey Marsa, did you pm me or email me about my setup???

Unfortunately I just sold everything but the rotors which are almost brand new, pm me an offer, and shipping will be hefty to the Czech republic, even if its offered. Might want to try to find them in europe.

as for Europe..Price:barf:

Marsa..the pins come with the pads when you buy new pads.

Using the outlandersetup is waay cheaper.

1. get 2002-2003 Mitsubishi outlander Rotors (eurospec 300mm)(103 euros for the set at autoparts store/oem are 175 EACH!)
2.get Outlander/gsx/sigma pads(45 eurs at autoparts store)
3.get Outlander Brackets (63 euros each at mitsubishi dealer)
this setup retains the gsx calipers (which are the same as Outlander ones)

i also got some Goodridge ss brakelines from go-performance

total cost:
275 euros for a 300mm big brake upgrade. (excl the ss lines, i got those later)

@guys wanting this setup in the states.. the us spec 1st gen outlander had smaller brakes in the US, youll have to check to see if the 07s got the bigger brakes.. a member on here pmed me and apparently hes working on tryxing out the 07s..so i geuss he'll post his results in due time.

If I understand this, youre not increasing the pad to rotor surface area... so what are you really upgrading?
You can have a 100000mm rotor with GSX calipers with stockish sized pads and it wont stop any better than stock. Maybe I missed something.

The larger rotors do a couple things; Mainly, allows you to place the caliper/pads further from the center. Surface speeds increase, but you now have a larger lever to slow the vehicle with. Also, larger rotors have more mass, allowing more heat to be stored and spread through-out, and more area to dissipate the heat.

edit: beat me to it, snox

Good call guys, I figured bigger rotors wouldnt really make THAT much of a difference but they may.
