Sexy as a mustang could be I guess. :shhh:

I would still go with an EVO for the aftermarket that is out there NOW. The STi has the displacement, but it doesn't look as if the market is really going to support it all that much.

Don't get me wrong, I am sure there is stuff out there. But the Evo has the advantage in the AFTERMARKET catagorey (SP).

But suby i ripping mitsu a new a**hole in the wrc. That has to say something. Suby has a stronger manufacturer performance parts than mitsu. Bang for the buck, I would still get the suby because Im not one to mod a car until the warranty runs out.

I would like to see a scan of that. Do you happen to have it?

The only reason that there isn't so much aftermarket support for the sti is becuase of the cars computer. It's drive by wire. The computer is really advance compared to the evo one and plugging in even an afc the computer will sense that you are trying to change the settings. There are companies working on that as we speak to try and compromise the computer for more performance, it's only a matter of time.

I would go the Evo if I had the choice. The 4G63 has been proven time and time again and has been around for 15 years or more, and has a much larger aftermarket for them. Besides, the Evo handles and brakes better (and looks so sexy)!

I read that too. Hot Rod basically said the STi was the better car overall too. The Mustang may have a big V8 but it is still a prehistoric vehicle compared to the EVO or STi.

I agree with this. Although the difference in handling in braking is small, so is the difference in drag performance. I would trade a little drag performance to gain a little handling performance any day. As well, I'm partial to the 4G63 for obvious reasons. I somehow doubt the block in the STi can handle the same power that the 4G63 can, but correct me if I am wrong. The aftermarket support for this platform is just icing on the cake.

I'm not dogging on the STi, as I think it is an excellent ride. I couldn't call anyone's decision bad no matter which choice they made. Both of these cars are simply wonderful for the price.

I love my talon but I kinda feel like my car is all boost. there is very little low end. I know you can just launch it and shift high for oddles of power but its almost as if the car has two modes "average 4 banger" before 3200rpm and "sports car" after 3200rpm. I have heard the EVO is the same way, while the STi has a smooth powerband and has more power when daily driving econo shifting (sub 3000K). Most of the time Im crusing at 2500rpm and there is always a lag before spool up unless i downshift. Getting an EVO is just like getting a new T/E/L but its an ugly 4 door sedan. Why get an EVO when you can get a low miles DSM and put money into it and have more power and better looks. EVOs are expensive and no faster than a stage 1 dsm. If you really want a brand new car get an STi cuz you know you wont mod a car with a warenty anyway and stock STis are better than stock EVOs.

I agree 100%

The EVO dominates where it really matters and that is in the twisties. Any car manufacturer can make a car with power to go in a straight line (Cobra Mustang). You drag folks missed the point of the EVO, it's a road car with AMAZING GRIP! Sport Compact Car calls the evo one of the most rewarding driving experiences. Reviews on the STI claim the car is sluggish with understeer.... common subaru, 4wd and it pushes. Not dissin' on you drag guys, but there is more to the EVO than a 5k clutch drop. I would buy an EVO.

Yes subaru is dominating rally, but they are race cars, honda makes power plants for F-1, but offer little manufacture support to thier cars.

the evo from motor trend ran a 13.08. thats one of the fastest times yet for a bone stock evo. it traps higher then an sti. a majority of the people that buy them dont know how todrive them. also the evo is not a drag car. its meant for rallying and handling. notice it out handles out accelerates, and brakes beter. all around a better vehicle and it drops back down to 15 or 16 pounds. just spikes higher

I agree. Fastest Japanese car to ever hit north america. Road & Track clocked it at:

0-60 mph: 4.3 sec. OMG
1/4 mile: 12.9 sec @ 107.6 mph
skid pad: 0.98g

It comes with a bigger turbo, active center differential, 6-speed manual, etc. STi what? :D

my friend has a EVO, all he has done to it is a Buschur racing exhaust and a boost controller set at 19 psi. When he went to the track he was able to pull 12.60's. But he is probably one of the best drivers i have seen.

Is his the black one at Norwalk?

do you think it still comes with a "bigger" 16G or maybe a 20G mmmm booost :)

hands down an STi. my friend has one with an intake and turbo back exhaust and he beat another buddy of mines' EVO VIII. the EVO had AVCR running 20 psi, turbo back buschur exhaust, intake, hard inntercooler pipe, Turbo XS bov, and SAFC tuned to buschur spec. we raced 4 deep in each car from 1st to 6th and it was close untim the STi hit 5th and he just pulled about 3 cars till 155. sounds rediculous but its all true. the kid eventually got pissed and sold the EVO, only to buy a 04 cobra. now hes schooling the STi.

when it comes to evo and sti is all in the driver.

dude, he could be a heroine addicted quadrapalegic, and with the mods the EVO had, STILL shoulda have been able to beat the STi.

i think i said this earlier, but i raced a stock sti when i was stock and and beat him. i out launched him hard pulled another car in 2nd gear, but in third he pulled right up to my front quarter panel. i stayed ahead through the traps.
you see the list of mods i have now, my car is trapping right aroudn 115 now. i have to take it to a track to get real times. but i say wait for the MR or go cheap and get the RS
