I searched around and couldn't find the answer to my question. I want to know if evo MR knuckles will fit a 2g gsx? Is this possible? Would much fabrication be involved with this? I have a good deal on full suspension, knucles and brembo brakes from my buddies MR. What do you guys think?:dsm:

O yeah and I only posted in the newb section because I can't post in the suspension and brakes. :boring:

While I'll be honest I've never worked on an EVO's suspension I'm positive the knuckle/suspension design is different than our cars.

our knuckle is the picture in the middle, I've never seen an evo's knuckle, but I'm almost positive it doesn't look like that.

I know the evo brakes would fit on the rear. I was just trying to see if there was a possible way that the evo knucles would fit the eclipse because many doors would open for the eclipse like bigger brakes and not so expensive galant knucles. I might just have to take a look at the whole suspension.

Yeah they aren't interchangeable at all without the use of extra parts from other cars.

I'm curious....How many parts from how many other cars are we talking about for this to become feasible??? How close or far apart are the total end costs for both options(Thought I'd put it this way so people can see both options up front).

The evo suspension is closer to a 1g suspension in that they are both mcphereson strut assys that have no upper control arm and the 2g have a SALA suspenstion with upper and lower arms thats why the front knuckles won't work onyour 2g.

LOL at EVO VIII parts to fit on 2g.ROFL

I know that it's a long shot for the Evo suspension to work on our cars. I was just open to hearing any slight possiblilty that there was another way to make it work. As far as I knew, it was JDM Galant knuckles or bust to make the Brembo swap possible. Thanks for your input:toobad:. It really helped this thread:notgood:.

Thank you. I like the detailed response. I'll stick with my original thought process about the JDM Galant front knuckles from now on.

There has got to be a way to do this. Would it be possible to swap an evo 8 or 9 front subframe into a 2g dsm to make the knuckles and other suspension parts bolt up? I'm curious how things would line up. It's not that difficult to add new subframe mounting bolts to the frame rails. My thoughts are it would be similar to adding the mounting bolts for an AWD conversion. This would also allow us to use the Evo steering rack which I've heard is a lot better. Another concern I see is if the axles will fit into the Evo wheel bearings or not.

I never said there has got to be an easy way to do this. I was thinking if you put the 1g dsm front subframe into a 2g it would have a similar suspension set up to the Evo. Then get some Evo knuckles and shocks and voila, no uper ball joint and brembo brake set up. You would also have to deal with the front and rear engine mounts but you could always use 6 bolt mounts or use the subframe from a 1g seven bolt car. Or an even better solution would be to mount the Evo subframe (k-member) with rack into a 2g for the full suspension set up. Again I think custom front and rear engine mounts might be needed but its fun to think about.

I was thinking the same thing just this morning. I don't care about the Bremen brakes, I have better ones already. I think it would be cool to be able to use EVO 8 coilovers.....and steering rack.
