I am getting ready to start my build (1990 TSI AWD.) The car is currently stock with the exception of a mbc. I have a evo VIII available for parts. I am looking to make 400-500 hp. What parts would be the best to get from the evo, to start off or to at least have for later on down the line? (i can get them for a great price)

No expert here, but i'm sure someone will correct me if i'm wrong on something. I think alot of guys are running the 02 housing and exhaust mani for sure. You can't go wrong with a brand new ported housing or manifold.

did a search, looks like you can grab the maf, injectors, calipers/rotors, intake mani (maybe, i know the evo 3 works), PCV valve, timing belt tensioner pulley/adjuster, and balancer tensioner pulley as well. You could also get some sweet caps/ evo logo stuff for under the hood as well :sneaky:

You may be able to use some stuff but I think the turbo and exaust mani are backwords so im not sayin it wouldn't work but i wouldn't try it...

Off the EvoVIII you won't be able to use much engine related since the mounting is reversed.

The manifold will not work.

No clue why you'd use the tensioner or pulley instead of buying new OEM ones for your specific car.

You can use the wheels if they are undamaged.

As far as the MAF is concerned, you'll need to get an EPROM chip or stand alone along with the plug from the Evo harness and a wiring diagram to make it function properly.

The injectors are an easy swap if you combine them with a 2g turbo MAF.

You could probably squeeze in the FMIC but it isn't all that great to begin with.

As far as the injector HP rating is concerned, try the search feature or Google. This site is a wealth of information if you use the search feature.

Evo exhaust manifolts are Twin Scrool, so it wont work....

is there much of a difference from the evo MAF compared to a 2g?

They flow about 33% more air than a 2g, 66% more than a 1g. Putting a similar sensor from a v6 3g on my car gave noticeable gains and better throttle response.

Oh, and I should clarify that I was stating the intake manifold will not work. I can't say anything about the exhaust.

You guys forget the intercooler?

You can get the front mount, seats, shift knob, steering wheel, fuel pump, rims, hids and ballasts.

I wish..The car was flipped about ten times. The front mount and the interior is trashed, along with the rims.

yeah those recaro's would have been sweet, but the evo fmic isn't that good to begin with, although better than a stock smic. i would try to pull everything you can, use what you can and sell the rest off on an evolution website.

+1, listen to this man ^^^. :thumb:

Exhaust manifold will bolt up to your head, but not your turbo. With the evo 4-9 turbo, your air inlet will hit your alternator.

The intercooler will be perfect for your power goals, it will have no problem flowing enough air for 4-500whp.

I am amazed how much hearsay that is floating around in this thread. I don't mean to sound like an ass but this stuff has all been covered in numerous threads on numerous forums. Do a search some time, a lot actually will work and a whole lot won't work.

From what I have read the brakes do not bolt up and are a pain to fab up. Can anyone second this?

The injectors won't support 400-500 hp, you'll need bigger ones. And without doing some major fabrication, the brakes won't work either. They'll work on the 2G's, but even then you have to buy jdm knuckles. Good luck.

Correct. Its a big enough pain for the 2g, but the 1g is a lost cause. I would suggest parting the whole thing out, then using that money to buy parts tailor made for your car.
