Alright after Reading through engine management threads for the past 7 hours i have found with minor modifacation we can run evo 8 ecus in our dsms... well the evo 8 has a cobb tuner access port! i dont know if it will work with our dsm's but first thing tomorrow i am going to make a call to cobb tuning and find out... If not i am thinking maybe if we get a group but that possibly cobb could make a dsm platform via the 2g ecu or perhaps custom maps for 2g that can be downloaded to the cobb tuner and used with the evo 8 ecu.. :hellyeah:

Cookie??? The evo 8 ecu is being run in many DSMs right now and they are being reflashed just like the evo ecu... If you searched evo ecu in our forums you will come up with a huge 500+ post thread...

The point is i live in michigan where there isnt a dyno tuner or dyno for hundreds of miles.
the cobb tuner has staged maps that are for modded applications... i cant use dsm link or the other tuning options due to no one to tune my vehicle... all as i am saying i found out we can use cobb on our dsm's... I love cobb i used it on my sti and made awesome power.. Just because i am a "noob" doesnt mean you have to be an ass :nono:

You could get more power out of a tune specifically for your car than the "staged" maps. If you're computer savy at all, I'd look into the EcuFlash software. It's free, so you can download it and a few maps then see if you'd be able to handle that type of tuning.

As for DSMLink, there's an extensive support forum behind the product. They'd be happy to help you get it tunned. You'd make a pull, log it, then post the log on the site. People would tell you where you need to adjust fuel/timing, then you make another logged pull. While there isn't a professional tuner local to you, there should be someone who has a good idea and could get you started.

I think the Cobb tuner thing is a waste of money and I just don't understand the point of it. You can do a custom tune and reflash and mod whatever you want for a lot less money.

You don't NEED a dyno to tune. Just an open stretch of road. The cobb tune is not going to be anything near a dyno tune for your car anyways.

Try this if you are concerned about doing the tune yourself. They will custom match a tune for your car that is way better than a basic staged tune. These guys are also one of the better shops out there when it comes to Email tunes so if you are less picky you might be able to find something for less.

BTW just to be clear this is for an evo8 ecu which is easy to install.
