Just as the title says, I'm trying to figure out if the wheels I'm looking at purchasing will fit with the EVO 8 brakes. I'm lookng at the 5Zigen bronze FN10RC in 17x8 and am trying to figure out what offset to get.

I dont want to run any spacers. The spoke design should clear the calipers, but not sure what offset is need to clear the calipers . 30 or 35?????

I had to get jdm galant knuckles so the fronts just bolt up with out brackets, and the rears just bolt up with out any modifications, with the exception of trimming the backing plate.
I thought 35 would work but just wanted some others opinions, especially poeple who've done this conversion.

well I got all the brake components in and the wheels, but the offset isn't enough. I need another 7mm or 5/16" more to clear the front calipers. The next offset I could get in this rim is a 25, but Im not sure if I want to go that low. Heres some pics, the front is shimmed at the 10mm to simulate what the 25 offset rim would look like if I was to go that route. Either way they hang out about an inch or so. Also i'll be putting in longer studs in this week. tell me what you think.:dsm:

Are your tires backwords? I thought the tread was supposed to face the direction of rotation, but maybe Im wrong.

yes the tread is backwards, Im just asking what you think with the wheels sticking out at this particular offset. I can put the other rims on with the correct rotation if you like. With the motor out and all, this car isn't moving anytime soon.:D

ROFLROFL Didn't even realize the motor was out..as far as the wheels go, its looks ok to me, as long as nothings rubbing I dont see why there would be a problem, but then again I dont really know much about offsets and such. Yes I apologize this is a wasted post on my part..sorry

That's one awesome braking upgrade for my 2g GST. Do you mind sharing how this is done w/ " how-to " write up? Thanks!!!

I'm kinda concerned now. I have the full EVO brakes setup in the garage but I haven't had time to put it on yet. I have 18 inch rims that I don't want to part with. Hope the offset is right I don't have enough cash for a wide body mod:(

You have to worry about spoke design more than the offset. In my case I thought these rims were going to clear the calipers. Which they would of as far as the offset goes, but the inner hub is chamfered and that's where the calipers are hanging up. However I may get the 25mm offset which I know will clear, but now the tires are going to stick out like an inch or more. There's always a trade off to fit bigger brakes it seems?

will a set of rims with 215/35R18 tires and a +43 offset work....I'm not too keen on how offsets and such work

Also would my stock 17" GSX wheel fit? and my 215/35R18 rim tire combo with a +43 offset???

Someone correct me if im wrong but after reading the link I posted above then I assume:

The offset is the distance from the wheel center to the hub mounting surface so the greater the positive offset, the closer the spokes come toward the car
