I recently put the EVO 3 engine into my 95 talon, and I am not too sure about the cam angle sensor. Right now I have it wired in like I would wire in a 1g's cam angle sensor. However, this is on my 2g ecu. I really want to run the EVO 3 ECU, and my question is...Can I leave the cam angle sensor wired in this way, or will I have to change it if I want to put the EVO 3 ECU in?

i'm not sure how you would wire in the EVO3 ecu with your current harness. is that what you're asking?

it will throw off your gearing... but do a search I think someone asked like 2 years ago..

I don't understand how it is going to throw off my gearing. Unless you are saying that the transmission has a higher final drive and therefore I would also need the EVO 3 rear end, but I am not using the transmission. I am only using the engine. What I am saying is that in the 95 talon tsi there is a cam angle sensor and a crank angle sensor both located on the timing belt side of the engine. On the EVO 3 engine there is a single cam angle sensor that is on the opposite side of the engine much like the earlier 1gs. Currently I am running my 2g ECU and so I have the cam angle sensor wired in like I would wire the cam angle sensor on a 6 bolt swap. I used the diagram at road race engineering. However, I want to run the EVO 3 ECU because I am using the EVO 3 MAFS and 650 injectors, and all I have to tune is a SAFC2. Plus I here that EVO 3 ECU has some more agressive maps. So my question is, if I just plug the EVO 3 ECU into my car the way it is wired right now, will it work? Or do the wires from the EVO go into different pins on the ECU? Hopefully not because I cut some of the EVO harness apart to get some connectors, but any help would be greatly apreciated.

thanks,
Zack

The EVO 3 never has have 650 injectors. It has 510 till the EVO 5 has 560.

Whats happen if you connect the EVO Ecu?

sell your EVO3 ecu, sell the SAFC, run the cam angle sensor like a 6 bolt swap- buy dsmlink, and boost the crap out of it " only after appropriate break in though!"
The Evo3 ECU is mounted different, the harness is different, the pins are different- it is like using a 1g ECU, but harder!- plus you have no logger, and SAFC cant tune well on 650cc without chip, or other items- so keep your 2g ecu- and go dsmlink, or if your that worried and cheap- go E-manage! ( not busting, but they are significantly less than dsmlink)

Umm the EvoIII engine has the same cas setup as the 2ga dsm. Should be 2 bolt holes by the crank on the oil cover case and a metal timming plate that looks like a bowtie on the crank by the Tbelt.

I would suggest using the Evo3 ecu as a paper weight and getting your 95 ecu socketed and get a DSMlink eprom.
