Hey fellas,
I just recieved an EVOIII 16g. I still have stock injectors, ECU, intercooler. I have a 1995 Talon TSi. What I have for turbo mods are:

Tube ext mani
Ported O2
Walbro 255 fuel pump
B&M FPR
3" turbo back ext
Injen Intake
MBC
upper & lower intercooler hard-pipes
RFL BOV

These are just some mods that would deal with upgrading the turbo. What PSI could I run safely on pump gas. I looked around the forums but found nothing. I am eventually going to upgrade the injectors, ECU and Intercooler. Thanks foryou response.

i would say around 12-13, anymore and you'll probably hit fuelcut, get the injectors and safc and i think probably 15-17...anymore, and a front mount would be good.

Dustin

You can probably run up to at least 19psi safely with what you have. I still have stock pump and injectors with my SAFC untouched. I creep up to 20 where there is a fine line where it will hold or cut. Mine never cut at 19. I agree with the previously suggested SAFC and injectors. You will be a beast once you get it all tuned.

well, just be careful, i got fuelcut for my first time 2 weeks ago, on the T-25, mbc was set at 15psi, and kinda creeped to 16. it was about 45 degrees out though.

Dustin

Truth is, some people get cut right away and some people get it after a prolonged period of time. I ran my T-25 at 19psi for 2months with no problem. Stock exhaust and fuel setup aswell. Again, I think everyone setup is different.

stock injectors, pump, no fmic......19psi is ok?!!!?!!!?!!! nah i beg to differ. you'll hit 100% duty cycle on those stock injecotrs by 14-15psi with no pump. with a set of 550's you'll be safe up to 17psi with no fmic. s-afc tuned, 550, fmic...boost up to 21psi all day long:thumb:

Thanks for the reply guys. That really helped alot. By end May I'll have the FMIC, 660cc injectors and a DSMLINK V2. Can't wait:D

Again, I did this on my car with only the GReddy UICP and LICP w/ GReddy-S. Boost controller and a GReddy EGT. NOT ONCE did I get fuel cut.

I never said it wouldn't hit 100%, truth be told I do not know the threshold of stock injectors. I did not say anything about them not being topped out. Yes, my fuel setup was stock and I ran it like that.

...19psi is ok?!!!?!!!?!!!.....

I never said it was OK or even suggested. I just told a personal experience I have had. As per the rules above the box on the reply page.

Don't give tech advice unless you have first-hand knowledge of the subject. Again, link to the answer and try not to guess the answer to a question. If you are not completely sure about your answer, be sure and state that in your reply. The goal is to not spread hearsay or bad information.

That'll be a nice setup.

BTW, as has been mentioned, every setup is different. I hit fuel cut when I put in my Big16G at 15 PSI. Remember, it has nothing to do with fuel supply-- it's the amount of air you're flowing through the MAS. When it sees a certain value, it cuts the fuel off.

ok i guess i should of specified which person i was questioning the 19psi to. midngt...u said you ran 19psi on the t25..thats fine. the t25's only hold about 11-12psi up top anyways, and it's pretty hard to do damage with a stock turbo and injectors. i wasn't questioning YOUR set up. i was questioning the individual who was telling the original poster that he would be ok with a 16g at 19psi on stock injectors and no fmic. again my mistake for not being specific.

Be really carefull with the boost because I don't think the EVO 16g is very efficient. The big 16g is the most inefficient compressor made by mitsubishi, (only 71% max), and the evo turbo is essentially the same, (the inducer is slightly larger).

Lots of people are getting crazy high EGTs after switching to the evo turbo, I think because of high intake temps. With a good front mount, you should definately be fine; just be carefull with the stock SMIC

ok i know this thread is supposed to be about fuel tuning with the 16g, however i thought i might add that the evo3's are known to have a bit of a creep problem, just figured i'd give u a heads up...make you port the shit out of the o2 housing, and the flapper pass...or u can send it to sbr, or similar and have the 34mm flapper mod done. (it's machined not ported by sbr)

Most internally gated turbos have "a creep problem" if your exhaust is big enough. The 14B will creep. The small 16G will creep. The Big 16G will creep. The Evo III 16G will creep. An internally gated 20G will creep.

And frankly, you can't look at the big 16G map and immediately say that the Evo III must be similar. On top of this, who gives a crap about efficiency? I just care about how much power and torque a setup will give me. And it appears that the Evo III 16G gives my car plenty of each.

Personally, I wouldn't run more than 15psi on stock injectors and a stock sidemount.

Efficiency has everything to do with power and torque. If you are using the stock SMIC, it can't cool the air very much so if you are getting 300 degree temps coming from the turbo outlet on an inefficient turbo, good luck trying to make very much power before your motor detonates.

With a big front mount, this is much more insignificant, but with the stocker is a huge deal.
