Okay, I just pulled out my EVAP and EGR systems from my 1G. I pulled off the charcoal canister too obviously. Do I need to cap off the vent line (Line from gas tank to charcoal canister)? :dsm:

From personal experience, i opt to vent it. When i didn't have mine vented, my gas tank was EXTREMELY pressurized. I vented the line, and i haven't had a single issue since. What i did though was to pop a silicone line on and direct it down under the car (but away from the exhaust of course).

There are varying opinions on this. Personally I believe it should be vented. Here is a discussion regarding the topic with both points of view. It becomes relevant starting in post #6.
It must be vented, I don't know how you got "it can go both ways" from reading that thread! :p
