for some reason, i use a MBC before i start, my turbo, when i turn it up to 20psi, will drop down to 15 before redline? i thought it was a boost leak, but then id have no boost correct? any ideas?

Incorrect. Unless your boost leak is MASSIVE, (Think a coupler blown off) a turbo of that caliber is very capable of overcoming smaller leaks to still provide you with plenty of boost. However, it eventually falls behind as your motor consumes more air in the upper RPMS. This leads to lots of other problems such as your MAF reading lots more air going past (but not necessarily reaching your motor) and your ECU compensating by providing alot more fuel making your tune an utter failure.

BLT that bad boy.

Boost leak test=blt:D.Go to the hardware and buy a 6"piece of heavy duty hose 2 1/4"dia.Then find a pvc end cap to fit in the end.Now clamp the pvc into the end of the hose(tight). Now go to napa, and buy a tractor valve stem and fit it into the pvc end cap. You have now made a boost leak tester.yay! Now search and find the right way to do the procedure;)

Before you turn it up to 20psi again, could you remind us what your supporting fuel mods currently are? 20psi on a 16g is well enough to max out stock injectors. And if you have larger injectors, what are you using to tune them?

car came with 550cc injectors tuned via DSMlink...actually it wasnt until AFTER i hit 20psi that the boost leak showed up....hmmm.

it spikes to 20, then drops to around 15-17psi now. not driving it for the rest of the day for a while.

called i really owna vr4 galant, but wanted to play a "ricer" joke LOL ever see those Hardtop 2gs that some ricer threw 'spyder" badge on tha back?

its actually an atempt to make fun of ricers since the whole joke is (if you actually read what it says) it says i have a 1990 eclipse spyder....tell me, how many conversions like that were there on the 1gs mr know it all?

also,i said HARD TOPS WITH THE SPYDER EMBLEM ON THE TRUNK....i dont know what you read now that i think about it

All right, enough B.S. how did your boost leak test go? Turbo in OK condition otherwise? Engine had all the proper maint?

So I don't get it... you're pretending to be ricer?

Def should check for leaks. That turbo should not taper down like that. They are very efficient in that boost range. Also you said it came with dsm link. You should get your tune checked out as well. Very bad tuning can really hinder the cars performance. Other than that make sure everything is mechanically sound, boost leaks etc...

its def a boost leak, cause i didnt have this problem when i DIDNT have the FMIC i installed a few days ago with the car (came with the car uninstalled, ike every FMIC LOL) and i actually found my FIRST boost leak and its by the J pipe leading out of the turbo, need a gasket for that. HOPEFULLY thats my last boost leak on this bi*** LOL.

and yes the joke is that im a ricer, but between this 16g vr4 and the TT mustang im building and shooting for 1000RWHP, id say its just a joke LOL.

The reason we like for your profile vehicle to match what you have is so that we can offer help with vehicle-specific questions without you having to explain what you have and us to constantly ask you what you have. Even though there may not be a GVR4 option in the drop down menu, you can still put GVR4 in the "Non-DSM" vehicle category and have it show up. There are plenty of members here who have a non-dsm vehicle show up in their mini-profile to the left.
