fuel gauge acting strange

Well like title says my fuel gauge is acting up it moves but is totally inacurate it will show empty most of the time then sometimes it will start goimg up slowly and get to about 1/4 tank sometimes half and then it just drops dead E again and the low fuel light doesnt come on idk if it matters but it is in my 90 talon tsi awd

More than likely the sender. Run a test on the sender to see if it's working right.
