The East Tennessee Region SCCA held its 7th regional autocross on August 13th at Adesa Auto Auction in Lenior City, TN. This is the first time I have been back to this lot since the autox school when my clutch went out. This is the nicest lot I've ran on with absolutely no light poles or islands.
There were around 90 drivers show up with around 20 of them being novices. We still managed to pull of 6 runs and be done fairly early.
The course was fairly open. It started into a sharp left into a five cone slalom. The slalom ended into a long (almost the entire width of the lot) left hand sweeper that tightened up in the end through a narrow gate. This led into a gate for a 90 degree right and straight into a long right hand sweeper. It ended with a comparatively tight left hander and through the finish.
It doesn't sound nearly as fun as it was. The course as a whole was great. Unfortunately, I did not have the usual amount of fuel in the tank and by the end of the first left hand sweeper it was starving for more on every run I made. This did force me to smoothen up my driving a little to help keep it from sloshing as much. I managed to drop time on every run as well as have it starve for a shorter time.
A new thing for this event is that I finally used my pocketlogger on all of my runs. I'm definitely going to continue running the logger at future events to gather as much data as I can.
My tires are about wore out but other than that the car felt great. I still came in third out of a four car class even with the fuel starvation. I plan to go to the next event prepared to put more pressure on the cars in front of me (WRX and Mini S).
