I bought the Dave UIC pipe and put on a greddy RS BOV. However I don't have it recirculating, its blowing off into the atmosphere. Now before you guys yell at me for atmosphere dumps, keep in mind I am planning on dumping it back into the intake, but currently I don't have the proper fittings. I am just wondering if this atmosphere dump would cause a error light or should I be looking elsewhere for the source of the problem?

One other unrelated thing, I have a 95 TSI, I am uncertain if they have OBD2 connections, if so where, if not, what can I use to read the error code on the computer?

venting will not cause a CEL, may make your car stall when coming to a stop. The CEL is a problem and the most often thing I see it for is MAS being disconnected. But go to autozone they can scan it for you for free. Just not reset it. But disconnecting the battery will do that for you.

As for the 95 being odb-II, yes, under the dash, drivers side, about where your right knee is. Crawl up there you will see it. And check out DSMlink, hands down the best prgram for any dsm. More so 2gs, need a 95 ECU, which you more than likely have.

OK great, thanks.

I just had a thought though, if the MAS were disconnected how would the car even run?

No venting shouldn't throw a CEL, did you remember to reconnect and plugs that you may have disconnected? Do a double check to make sure you didn't acidently knock anything off. Just making sure (should be common sense) did you plug up up the now free hole in the intake snorkle, if not the car will run extremely lean & would probably throw a CEL because the fuel trims would be out of the ecu's adjustment range.

No, I will give a different opinion. Venting MIGHT POSSIBLY give you a CEL. Back in my n00b days when I use to vent, I got a CEL light. I thought wtf could it be. No the MAS connector was not unplugged. Of course it was running rich and some idle surges and what not, and then every sometime I would get a CEL. I didn't have my DSMLink at the time obviously to grab the code, but recirculating never made the CEL come on again. The car was mostly stock and in EXCELLENT condition, so I knew there was nothing else it could be. Every car is different of course.

Well I do only have tape over the dump hole so that could possibly be the source, I didn't think about that, tape isn't exactly a good sealant under pressure. Between that possibly leaking and it not recirculating, do you think thats throwing the code?

Tape isn't a good idea period, think about how much air that turbo is sucking in? Now think about how strong that tape is.... You have a good chance of sucking that tape through the turbo under boost and possibly wrecking the turbo.

Back in the day when I was installing my intercooler piping and BOV, One of the pipes blew off and it threw a CEL. I just reset the ECU and it went away.

Well I just fixed the dump pipe yesterday and I reset the computer. I don't have any problems with CELs and I have put about 30 miles on it since. So thanks for all your help, I assume it was the tape throwing the light.:thumb:

THE FIX: I have a greddy RS BOV with an unscrewable horn. So I went to SEARS hardware and I walked to the plumbing section. Here I purchased a 1" steal plumbing pipe insert. Its a about 1.5 inches long, so it screws into the BOV and leaves me enough room to connect the dump pipe to.:talon:
