EPROM or SAFC?

Ok so the ecu that cam with my first gen has EPROM. Witch would be easier/ better, if I retuned the EPROM or just went to SAFC?

If you don't like changing chips a few times to get your tune dead on, buy an ostrich eprom emulator. Either way, if you choose to tune the car via the eprom, be prepared to put forth some effort to learn the ins and outs of tuning. For a more supported solution, get ecmlink. Tuning with nothing more than an safc, on 91 pumpgas can cause some problems with timing advance, which are only complicated out here when it's 110* and up.

Well I picked up this 91 tsi for 500$ and it has a bed valve. So im taking it to kelly's machine shop there going to rebuild the motor. Then I would like to put some bolt one like a fmic, cold air intak, full length exaust, exhaust manifold, and I bought a evo 3 16g. UMS said they would tune it with a SAFC and they predict it will make 280-300 wheel. Im trying to figure out little things.

Personally i love ostrich and Jackal combo. For tuning speed density it really couldnt be easier. I love the layout. Base maps are supplied with the software so just set injector size and your running. The new version is only $20.

Some people are also having some success with tunerpro, which is free. Takes a little more work to get set up if you've never ran Jackal before but that is free.
