I am to the point where I need to go DSMLINK, due to fuel injectors and other goodies. I currently do not have an EPROM ecu. I thought that the socketing service that DSMLINK provided converted it to an EPROM board, but as i began the ordering process i was sent this message..

NOTE: 1G ECUs have a history of showing problems when they arrive here.
We will inspect each very closely for problems and let you know if we
find any and what additional charge, if any, would apply for repairs.

Before shipping your ECU to us please verify that you have an EPROM ECU
http://www.dsmlink.com/faq-eprom.html We cannot work with a non
EPROM ECU.

So I guess i need to purchase an EPROM ecu first? Or does the service of adding the socket even exist?

Thanks

Ray..

You need to have an EPROM ecu first. They remove the extra chip that is on the ecu and replace it with a socket and then stick the programed chip in the socket.

As you can see in the link they sent you, the non-EPROM ecu is just circuit board there, where as the EPROM actually has a chip there. They can't just put chip on the circuit board that did not have one since the circuit board isn't set up for that.
