I have the Dejontool 2.5" hard IC piping and just put in their Super-sidemount intercooler as I have had 2 FMICs stolen and my cop neighbor said they are teaching officers to look for these on modified vehicles

Anyways, I recently upgraded from an 18G to a PTE SCM32 (54 trim) and I am wondering if this IC will be okay. ON the site it says rated for 400hp but I don't know exactly how accurate that is.

Do you think I will be pushing it running 20+psi on a 54trim on a SMIC, it is a pretty big SMIC but sidemount none the less.

Thanks

winter time you will probably be ok (depends on where you live) but summer time, no way, i would go ahead and get a fmic, dejon makes a nice one since your running there upper piping

You got TWO FMIC's stolen off your car? That's nuts.

Get another one, paint it black, and be careful about where you park the car.

I'm curious about this intercooler. Was the install relatively straightforward? I'm planning on installing an EvoIII16g, so I figure Dejon's super sidemount should work well for that. How is it working out for you so far with the 54trim in the SoCal summer heat? I'd rather not go to a front mount for the same reasons...cops and crooks, as well as the Smog Nazi's. What's your impression?

Super-sidemount should work perfectly for your 16G. Install goes fine, just like the website explains is just how it goes.

My question wasn't really "should I get an FMIC?" as I JUST got this unit and explained why I didn't want a front mount.

Really just wanted to know if I will be maxing out the IC with this turbo. I drive the car maybe 3 days a week and mostly at night. Thanks for everyone's input so far.

you already know that I was running the MKIV supra IC w/ a PTE 56 at 23psi on pump daily driven so u ahve ur answer. I'm not sure how effecant the 54 trim is but I DO know the 56 and 50 are ver effecant on pump gas and higher boost. Did u ever get those 720's I told u to get? Or still runing those 650's?

This guy is the man, everyone on the board should know that I owe my DSM and my progress to jsigone.

Anyways, check my profile Jeffo and see my progress ;) :thumb:

I'd say it depends on your driving habits. If you lay into it a lot, I'd imagine you'll end up heat soaking it eventually. I'd imagine you removed the foglights and trimmed the splashguard for airflow. It should hold up ok during typical San Diego nights, but probably not to some hard runs in some East County heat during the day. A sprayer of some sort would minimize that to some extent. The only way to really know is to have a post-intercooler temp sensor and do some runs. Or, you could ask some of the guys running Supra sidemounts how well theirs work with a big turbo, since they're about the same size and placement.

Which brings me to another question about your setup...does the Dejon unit make the bumper cover bulge out at all like the Supra setup does?

no matter what, it's gonna bulge in the bumper. You can trim the side of the IC where it fold overs like the 2G guys do. This will buy about .30".....not much but all helps. The bulge if done correctly isn't noticable to a untrained eye. It should be there the bottom corner of the bumper wraps around, w/ the IC in there, it has a straighter curve compaired to the driver side. You will also need to cut the support mold from the backside of the bumper where the IC is. The more u can get it flush the less it will bulge. In my 1Gb AWD, I had sanded a groove into the back side of the bumper about half the thickness of the bumper. On the 1Ga bumper it fit over the IC better w/o sanding the backside.
