 i didn't understand any of that.....

OH my god. i feel like such a dumbass for posting that. i can't even understand it myself. I WAS REALLY TIRED ok?LOL..... anyways. im gonna TRY to explain one more time i hope this will work... LOL jk.. here it is.

first of all, I LOVE MY CAR. for me, it's been the most reliable car that i drive, sometimes goof around race everyday. then this problem popped up about 2 weeks ago.

heres the situation. I had my buddy taken the car to get the oil change / filter for my car. then about 2 days after the oil change job, the car wouldn't stay up running when i start my car. it would sparks when i turn the key but it dies right after 1 - 2 second of it running.. I pump the gas while its off to maybe give it an extra fire but it does the same thing. so i tried stepping on the gas pedal right when i turn on the car to boost the engine rpm but instead of my RPM going higher it CHOKES my engine to die. this is really getting frustrating because NOW i have to start my car literally about 20 times to get my car to actually stay on running. so i turn that key 20 times or so, i guess thats when my car's engine is getting warmer.

i changed the spark plugs and the emission wires but its still the same thing. I dont know what to do. some people said to change my cold start// fuel injector // the car's computer chip. BUT I DONT KNOW WHERE to start. I need an advice from you guys, who owns eclipses and have some knowledge about this problem. because this is unneccessary headache you know what i mean?.......

Alright let me take a stab at it. First I would post up in a forum like SW meets in this web site and try to find someone in your area who has a data logger. Where did you have your oil changed? What type of oil did they put in your car? Have you checked the oil recently to make sure no one screwed up? Thing is if you have too thick of oil in your 2.0 L It wont run the same (personal experience) I ran straight 30wt. and it made my car sluggish real bad. Ive been using mobil 1 15/50 since then. Did you change the plugs yourself? Did you gap them properly? That might have something to do with it also. Oh yeah pumping the throttle while the car is off does nothing for you. Its an injected motor it wont do any squirting (of fuel) until the motor is running. Also do not try to gas it while starting it either. The way the car is designed, its supposed to do all that automatically. See, while your car is starting there really is not much oil on the top of the motor, so by gasing it when it does fire you could potentially be hurting your motor by revving with no oil. Your are only supposed to turn the key and let it do every thing else until its warm belive it or not. If it dont want to start, it wont. I think for you right now, I would just try to find someone who knows more that lives in your area. Have em come over, buy em some beer, watch and ask questions, Im sure he'll get it figured out or at least get you pointed in the right direction. Data logger remember that, you need one.

Ps Also you need to complete your vehicle profile so we can help you better without haveing to ask you all the same questions over and over. ;)

ok let me see if I understand alittle more now.

You start car, car dies right away?
When you finaly get the car to start, you give it gas and it dies right away?
hmm...

Does it back fire? (im guessing it's just dying), To me it sounds fuel related more then electrical. Take a spark plug out, hook it to the sparkplug wire and have someone try to start your car see if the plug sparks (don't do this if you don't have any clue what Im saying.)

If its fuel related maybe you have water in your gas tank. Buy some HEAT for it (its a 5 dollar possiable fix).
If that doesn't do anything, a new fuel filter wound't hurt (20 buxs).
Then check fuel pump, and fuel injectors.

im having the same problem in cold mornings i have to crank it up a few times and idles just dies til it grbas idle i have tired fuel injection cleaners oil changes nothing and i have white smoke coming from the back at idle (only at idle)

anyone have ideas im gonna go head and bookmark this page and see :)

ill take it to my mechanic and see my oil is pretty black so ill just get my oil changed and let him look around :p

crank position sensor check yours if you see it has oil on it then thats your problem either that or your ECM :D

I posted a thread like this rather recently. Just a week or so ago my car came down with the exact same problem. Only difference is I didn't change out any parts, I just put some gas in at a backwater hick station, and just afterward it'd start, then die immediately. Got it towed home and still havn't been able to figure it out.

However, I ran my finger along the underside of the crank angle sensor (1990 car, by the way), and there was some oil residue there. How can I test to see if my CAS has gone bad?

I have a 90 talon and had the same problem. I too started by replacing the plugs and wires with no improvements. A couple of my buddies thought it might me that i needed new fuel injectors so i decided to take my car in. It turned out that my ecu was bad. Hopefully that is the problem seeing it isn't cheap but you might want to have that checked out.

Hm. I'm very limited on ze cash right now, but I 'need' this fixed. Could you give me an approximate cost for ECU repair or replacement? A ballpark would be appreciated.

Thanks. C:

Auladan, I would suggest calling Pina motorsports. Nick Drake and Andre were very helpful. Infact I would recamend them to anyone in the Seattle area. They are located in Kent though. Try pulling the ECU out and open it up. There are three capacitors on the board. If any of them have any slime or anything that looks out of the ordinary at theyre bases then you do need it rebuilt or replaced. If you choose to replace I know of a junk yard that is 90 percent mitsubishi, in the area. I know that he has many ECU's. Or at least he did the last time I was there.
