We are working on my son's Eclipse built August 95. The dang thing is driving me crazy. The wires on the Cam sensor are White, Red and Black with grey. In both manuals I have they skip over the 96 Eclipse but list the 96 Talon. The wire colors don't match on the cam sensor on any of them. Any ideas where I can buy or download the proper engine wiring diagram? I cannot even find a terminal for either the crank sensor or knock sensor.
Thanks in advance for any help,
Chip.

Thanks, I've been looking through it and can't find a wiring diagram. It just seems odd that both Chiltons and Haynes would exclude the 96 Eclipse from their engine wiring diagrams. I'm sorry for putting you through all this and appreciate your help. I'm still looking through the link you gave and hoping I can find it in there. :coy:

Well crap - I have a pile of FSM's with diagrams on my PC, but I'm not at home right now, and don't get much net time. Never the less, I'll try to find the info for you, if somebody else doesn't come through sooner.

That's awesome! This car isn't at the top of the list for got to get done right now, but as soon as we get it running, we'll be more inspired to get on the body work. My son has been through a few DSM's since I registered but this is the first one to really stump us. I lurk alot here and post as I have something worthwhile to contribute or need someone smarter than me to help me out.
Thanks, Chip.

***EDIT****

Went back and re read the thread and found out I was missing something.

Crank Sensor......

If you follow your wires back to your PCM (original wires) Yellow – should be the power wire. Blue/white – signal. Black/green – ground. The middle pin on the connector should be ground. So in other words Pin 1 should be signal. Pin 2 should be ground. Pin 3 should be power. If it doesn't work in that order try swapping the two outer pins. Keep in mind colors are same on all ecu years.

Your car will not start without this sensor hooked up properly.

Cam Sensor.......

Blue/red – is the signal and it should be pin 1, pin 2 is ground- black/green, pin 3 yellow – power wire. If you have them in the wrong order just swap the two outer pins. The cam sensor in a way is like the crank sensor voltage wise.

Not too sure about the knock sensor...the signal wire is white/yellow.

Hope that helps...

We pulled the intake last night hoping to find something we missed. There are no cut wires or terminal to plug into the crank sensor. Looks like we'll be unwrapping the engine loom and seeing if maybe it was cut and the tucked into the bundle of wires. Thanks for all your responses everybody. I'll keep you posted on what if anything we figure out. Any other ideas, feel free to post here, I'll check this thread frequently through each day.

We unwrapped both harnesses underhood all the way to the firewall to find no cut wires and no plug for the crank sensor. is the 96 an odd duck? Is this car a bastid stepchild?
Thanks, Chip.

I feel like this is what I'm doing.

Are you sure you have a 420a? Is it a spider n/t? I just looked though all the engine schematics and I don’t see none of the colors you’re seeing; even the 95. Can you take some pictures of the engine and possibly the harnesses? The color key I gave you should/will work on all 96-99 cars. The 95 is a bit diff color wise. After all I have a 96 n/t and the color wires you’re seeing were intended for something else. Is this on the OEM CPS/CAS harness or a aftermarket harness??? The 96 isn’t the bastard child it is our close brotha the 95. ;)

It is a N/T Eclipse hatchback with power everything, the harnesses both appear to be unmolested. Since we have the harnesses unwrapped, my son plans to remove A/C and P/S after we have this hurdle cleared. He is certain the elimination of them will allow a little more power to the ground and more room for a turbo later. I'll get some pics tonight and the VIN off the car.
Thanks for the help,
Chip.
