Uh definitely not. It cost me almost that much to ship a transfer case.

Oh really, places like FFWDconection and other engine places ship it for like 75$, but that might just be if you buy an engine or have them rebuild one. so other then that I dont really know, it depends on how far you would be driving, like buying gas for the trip would be cheaper then go pick it up your self.

I had one crated and shipped, and it was easily moveable with 2 people on a pallet. I don't remember the weight on the freight bill but I'd imagine about 200-250 lbs. A few pounds difference isn't going to make a big difference, have them calculate the charge for 225 lbs, it will only go up or down $10 if it's actually more or less by 20 pounds.

Hey guys, i'm sending out an engine to another state and i was wondering how much would a typical 94-97 accord v6 engine weigh? Any estimates will do.

2.7 liter? Depends if you are talking shortblock or longblock, but I'd say around 250-300lbs. A bare block should only be like 150 at most.

Google my friend...what is the code for the motor? The Acura Legend v6 weighs almost 500 with everything on it. Are you shipping the motor complete? Manifolds, accessories, etc? If so I'd steer towards 450-500.

Tried googling it but couldn't find anything. The motor is complete so i guess i'll go with 500lbs. Thanks for the help.

i shipped out a 6 bolt block for $75 fedex is cheap, but i went to the main warehouse, not the small ones..

well the motor is going 700 miles so I think it'll cost a bit more than that. But We'll see tomorrow.

I shipped an AWD Transmission Fed Ex and it was barely under their weight limit.

This was from a warehouse, not a store.

UPS recently bought an LTL carrier to start shipping freight. Check them out, they go everywhere and have pretty good rates.

I was wondering if anyone had any advice on what shipping company or method to go with shipping a motor? I will be paying for shipping so I dont want to get hosed by some over charging company. Also does anyone know around how much a complete 6 bolt motor weighs without the tranny? I have no clue what to tell the companies on weight when i call them.

I can't help you on a shipping company, but when I had to trash my old motor, I was able to lift the bare block without help. I'd guess it was probably 80 lbs. I can't tell you how much internals will add to that weight.

Throw it on a pallet and box it in so it can't be banged into or tip over etc. Just make sure they can still get a forklift and pallet jack into the bottom pallet openings. You can screw or nail some 2x4 or whatever to the top side of the pallet and use that to build the upper box off of.

Or just throw it on a pallet with some straps and call it good.

Does any one know of any shipping company's besides Ups freight. Is that the cheapest there is? I bought a 7 bolt motor off ebay with 90 k miles for 800 bucks. he said its going to be 500 to ship it. does that sound right?

sounds a little high...my boy got a 98 gsx shipped from texas to maryland for 500...it was an independent company....dont know the name but ill try and find out....how many miles away from you is the motor?

Personally i think thats nuts!!! i live in the Cayman Islands - Caribbean for those of you who aren't familiar. I purchase a full 6 bolt engine from a guy in Florida which got shipped on a Tuesday and arrived on a Saturday and shipping was $160.00 US which is equal to $130.00 Cayman Dollars. Call around to some shipping companies like- Fedex, UPS etc. That price is nuts but might be right if its same day delivery. Also take into consideration of Hazmat charges i didn't have any but if your engine has oil etc in it, you should probably expect those charges. Good luck man hope i was some help to you.

My buddy recently got a 6 bolt shipped to him in Akron, OH from I believe florida, it was only like $180 bucks through a private shipping company.

How much do you think the 4g63 motor weighs? So i can get quotes.

After reading a few threads on here (searched for engine weight and 4G63 weight), people have said anywhere between 250 and 325ish lbs. for a full block and head.

I would say $500 is too high for shipping a motor. For a good reference, contact some of the vendors here (FFWD, MAPerformance, etc.) that sell built engines and ask what it would cost and how they ship it.
