I recently picked up a 96 talon with a 6 bolt, eagle rods, ross pistons a 50 trim and all the supporting mods. The timing belt tensioner failed, causing the valves to all be bent and apparently bending the rods too. The pistons all had oil and metal shavings on top of them when the head was pulled off.
i figure now that the engine is apart I can add some of the good stuff. I want to install all the goodies needed to run at 8500 rpm. I was thinking of going with manley or crower springs and valves, 3g lifters, along with crower stage 2 cams and unorthodox cam gears. Ill have to re-ring the pistons also, any idea where I can get a quality set of rings?
Ill be replacing all the belts with brand new OEM. If the rods and pistons are ok (ill be taking the bottom end out soon) ill keep those of course. Anything else I might be missing? Im going to have the head redone also of course. Thanks in advance

Why are u re-ringing and rebuilding the bottom end. If u just had some bent valves get some new valves, cams, springs, and retainers get ## head ported and valvejob and put it back together. The bottom end of a 6 bolt will hold a lot of a good tune

He's gunna rebuild the bottom end because he bent the rods.

Im re-ringing because there was oil in puddles on my pistons when I took the head off. I might be wrong but it seems like this would be excessive blowby from cracked rings? Also Im afraid the rods are bent so Ill have to see about replacing those too.
i was looking at a set of 1mm oversize ferrea ss valves. Would those match up with the crower titanium retainers, springs? Im taking the head in to get reworked so I can have them do a 1mm oversize valve job.
So it looks like im going with the crower stage 3, crower springs/retainers...ferrea valves and 3g lifters. missing anything?

the oil came from the heads i bet...when u bent the valves u probaly tore the seals

the seals all look good oddly....Im getting the bottom end apart later today so ill check everything else. Now the pistons (ross pistons) are scored deeply where the valves smacked into them. Is it ok to refinish that or am I out a new set of pistons too?

Depends on how bad they got cut......well i doubt the seals or ok im sure when u bent ## valves u warped ## valve seats tore ## seals but its good to check it out why ## there...
