I just just swapped out my stock blown turbo for an Evo 3 and started it for the first time in a few months yesterday. At around 3000 rpms it has a ticking sound coming from what sounds like the block. Oil pressure doesn't seem to be right and it does have some blue smoke coming out the exhaust. Have I spun a rod bearing? Any help would be greatly appreciated by the way it is a 95 GS-T
 
is the tick there at idle and just get more noticeable with more rpms? or does it just magically appear at 3k? how did you blow the previous turbo? did you flush the oil when you switched out the turbos?
did you unplug the mpi relay/turn key foward and let the new turbo cycle oil for a while before starting it?

It's possible its there at idle i just hear it more at higher rpms. The day i got the car the turbo went out which the previous owner told me it was close to needing replacing i just didn't suspect it to be that soon. when it went out goin down the road, boost dropped and oil pressure dropped, lots of white smoke. I changed the oil and filter when the turbo went out. I didn't know to unplug the mpi relay so that didn't get done.
 
white smoke is usually coolant, but ive seen some syn. oils burn more white than blue. was the oil "coffee and cream", honey, brownish-black colored when you changed out the oil that had gone through the blown turbo?
if the new turbo sat for a while the assembly oil and lube may have dried up. you might have burned up the journal bearings or seals if you didnt prime the turbo, buy unplugging the fuel relay and unpluging the coil, then turning it over to get the the oil pump to cycle oil through the turbo resoaking the bearings and seals in oil.
