So I have not posted in a while so I will update it now. I have tore down the motor to the bear block. The head looked good for the most part no bent valves, but it did have some cracked guides. I disassembled the head all the way. The springs and retainers looked to be in good shape. After finding the cracked guides I went ahead and ordered New Valves and Guides. I have also ordered BC springs and retainers along with Delta HKS272 with Fidanza cam gears. The head will receive a 5 angle valve job along with deburing. That is about it for the head that I can think of. For the Block, The cylinder walls where in really good shape for 160,000 miles. I could still see the cross hatches in them. Very smooth walls and no visible damage. The bearings had a few rough spots but all the gernals had very little wear. All in all the motor seemed to be in good Condition. The only bad thing I found was that the Water Pump pulley was eating away at the Timing cover. Also the belt running to the AC was rubbing into the timing cover. I checked the Harmonic Balancer and there is no visible damage to the rubber ring connecting the two pieces. If you have any thoughts on what would cause this feel free to comment. I also found the water pump to be a GMB water pump so someone has been in there before. I have ordered Eagle Rods and got a killer deal on some Weisco Pistons Thanks to Linen88. Also I will be getting new bearings (ACL), ARP main and rod bolts, New Timing components, BSEK. The block is going to be honed, decked and cleaned and the crank is going to be polished along with blueprinting everything for roundness and service spec. I still need to order my fittings for my oil return so I can have them welded into my oil pan. I will try to update more often as The longer I wait the less detailed these become. In the last pic you will see some pieces in the bottom of my oil pan. This was the main reason for the complete tear down. These where not magnetic and the bottom end had no damage. I can only think that these may have been an old gasket or something. The bent bolt was a cam cap bolt. I was tapping the bolts to lossen the caps and I had the bolt to far out of the cap so it bent. Easy fix just get another bolt. I will post another soon as I have ran into Calan build thread and have decided to tear the engine bay down to bear metal and start from scratch!!:shhh: I will post anther thread on that soon as I will be finishing up tonight. Feel free to comment!!!:thumb:

A fortunate Block it is sir. I am glad it turned out that way. When I first got it the gas tank was rusted and made it run lean. I was seeing some mean lean knock so for it to turn out like this makes me very happy. The bronze guides are of great quality from what I can tell. The reason some say to not use the bronze guide is that it can swell if overheated causing the valve to meet the piston. On street motors many people recommend the Iron guides. This thread has some good info check it out.http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/379763-some-valvetrain-questions.html
