Here's my 4G64 block, before and after the teardown. I got it from a junked 1998 Galant. It turns out if you look for 4G64's from Galants, they're significantly cheaper than 4G64's from Eclipse Spyder GS's. How funny is that?

Anyway, 69K miles, $600.00. Not a bad deal. The car had been in an accident, and the oil pan was dented. They were nice enough to pull the oil pan from another block for free.

I was very pleased with the condition of the block. The cylinders had the factory crosshatches still in them, and the oil was brown, rather than black. After the teardown I trucked it up to Jackson Auto Machine for the bottom end rebuild.
