hey guys... recently got a 96 gsx "shell" where i had to get a new wiring harness/ecu/engine...

the engine i got looks like a 1g 7 bolt out of a galant vr4... no problem there...

the wiring harness i got looks to be out of a 2gb automatic, (97-99)

and the ecu is an eprom for a 2g, 1995--

when i was looking at the ecu pin layout, it had a pin, 52 if i can remember correctly... that is for the ignition timing adjustment connector-- it says it only applies for a 95-96. with my wiring harness being from a 97+, the pin/wire is not even on my harness.... am i going to have any problems with this since my engine is basically the same as a 95/96? if so, what should i do to resolve it.

thanx for any tips

You can add the Base Timing Adjust wire to the ecu plug. It is only needed if you are using a 1G CAS.

You are going to need a CAS conversion harness, or reroute wires. CAS/Crank Trigger is in different locations in 1G, 2Ga, 2Gb.

well the engine i have is similar to the 95-96 engines where the CAS is on the driver side behind the actual gears... i spliced the wires from the 2gb CAS (on the passenger side), took the connector off of a 2ga and extended it to the driver side; i assumed since the colors matched on the wires the same signal was sent to/from them to/from the ecu.

i actually HAVE the conversion harness, but since i didnt have a 6 bolt the only wire i needed to play with was the CAS (so i think)

should i be good?

any info guys? my D-Day (day i plan on starting the car up) is approaching... id like to know if i need more things to get it running right prior to trying to crank it

thanx!
