Engine Swap Question

Alright. So I am going to be engine swapping my 4g63 out of a 90 GSX into a 91 TSi, or at least I THINK it's a TSi. That is where you guys come in. The only question I have is, that little bump that all GSX owners hate in the trunk? Did the TSi's have them also?

You really can't tell too much from the picture, but the tire closest is resting in more of a hole and not a huge hump at all. This is the only thing that makes me question whether or not the car is AWD. I will be swapping EVERYTHING though, this donor car is just a shell. Input greatly appreciated.

Look under the car and see if there is a driveshaft going to the back and a rear diff. Also the hump is only on the fwd cars. So no that is not a awd car.

Wait. You mean the HOLE in only on the FWD cars? there is a hump on my GSX in the back.

That hump is the one I am talking about. So if that isn't there is isn't AWD?

:sigh: That is MY car, the other one has a downward dent there, not a hump like the white one. SO, the question is, hump=AWD, no hump=FWD?

BTW, the one without a hump is a TALON, the one with a hump is my ECLIPSE

I'm not sure about the hump/no hump issue but JNPerformance already stated the obvious. Does it have a drive shaft and rear diff? If so, it's AWD, if not, it's FWD, and either way humps don't make a diff.

Ok, well, the car is all the way across town so I can't go look at it but lets assume it's FWD. People say the swap is complicated from FWD to AWD, but I would be swapping EVERYTHING! Drivetrain, Trans, Motor, ALL of it. So, with that said, would it really be too difficult. i mean, the chassis should have all the same bolt holes and everything correct?

Nevermind. Unless someone tells me that swapping the ECU is cake, I don't want to deal with it.

It's not that easy on 1g's, even if you have an AWD donor car, it's not a bolton.

I've been told it's much easier for 2g's, but I've never owned a 2g...
