I have a 97 w/ the stock tape deck...pretty much the thing has had it, and I'd like to put a Cd player in there.

My question is, there are plenty of OEM infinity CD players from different Mitsubishi's (2001 Lancer, 2000 Diamante, etc.) that LOOK like they would fit right into the slot I have now...

Does anyone know if they would fit and be compatible? I'm thinking they should, but hey, better safe than sorry. If so, I should be able to pick one up super cheap, which is what I'm going for.

Thanks!

Anything will fit. Get harness adapters, one for the radio and one for the car, off eBay. DO NOT CUT ANY VEHICLE WIRING.
Be aware that many of the high-end factory radios (just like the DSM Infinity) either depend on an additional amp (often not easily-compatible without other adapters), or (such as with the Nissan Bose series) have goofy speaker setups (2-ohm stuff with integral amps on each speaker in the Bose instance). It's still iffy to find factory radios that are happy with computer-burned CDs, and rare that they play MP3s.
You might find other alternatives more pleasing:

Thanks for your help! What was the product you tried to link? It just sent me to the WalMart site...
