Hello. I have a '97 eclipse RS that needs a new motor. Would one from a '93 fit. From what ive read in various forums '93s are 4g63 and also came in the N/T variety. I know 420a to 4g63t would be a pain to do, would the n/t 4g63 have the same problems? Thanks for any help.

Both 4g63's from the 1g cars 90-94 are six bolt (with the exeption of a few 94 cars that started to switch to 7 bolt.) You would have to modify it to fit your car. It's common to put a six bolt in a 2g car. Just search for 6 bolt swap.

Actually. Anything is possible, but considering you have a NT 2g, you would have the same difficulties trying to install a turbo or nom turbo 4g63 of any year or variation. Including engine, trans, wiring harness and sensors, ecu, axles, etc. 99% of the time its not worth the money spent in the end. Its usually cheaper to pop in a junkyard motor or if you want the turbo deal, buy a turbo 2g.

BTW: searching 6bolt swap will not relate to nearly anything you will need to do in order to perform the transplant.

My bad, I thought I saw a few thing's about it under the 6bolt swap topic. Didn't mean to send you on a goose chase! :thumb:

the n/a dsm and the neon share the 420a . so if they mounted a srt 4 engine in a neon, then putting one in a n/a dsm should be possible.

the '95 thru '99 neons shared the engines and trannies of the same year n/t dsms, and the srt-4 neon has a completely different chassis than the neons that had the 420a, the neons only had the 420a between '95 and '99. It would require a lot of hacking to put a neon 2.4 turbo in a dsm, but why would you want to?
