ok so i got my engine in tonight, tried starting it and it wont start unless i put some either in a vacuum hose, when it runs it seems to run ok a lil rough but i havent set the timing yet either, also when i turn the key and shut it off im getting a clicking sound like a solenoid clicking on and off comming from the engine bay, around the throttle body area is where it sounds like its comming from. but mostly it just wont start unless i put either to it, not sure what else to tell you guys to help me so let me know, my mods are in my profile, i must be just over looking something. thanks agian guys!!!

I thought I read a post some time ago from one of the wiseman's about something to look for on the sensor, as to which way the tab needed to be in relation to TDC. Maybe the wiseman that made the post could chime in.

Any-who take the sensor off, turn the little doo-hickie thing 180 degrees then put back in and see if the car will fire without the aid of either.

If the car runs on "ether" it means you have lost your fuel supply. Either the fuel pump and or related circuit, or the injector drive circuit. One or the other. Fuel pump is easy to test for. Listen to the tank while someone is cranking, or simply loosen the nut on the filter to see if fuel tries to spray out. If it sprays out under pretty much pressure, then you need to take a test light and probe the injector harness with the key on and engine off. One side should come up hot. If it doesn't, check fuses. If it does, then hook your test light to the positive post of your battery and crank the engine.

If the light stays lit or does not light at all, then look at the injector drive circuit. If it flickers and the injectors are clicking while cranking you need to look at your fuel pump circuit again because if you got both, it runs. Providing you have the other criteria. Compression and spark at the right time.

Good Luck

^^ thanks, i was thinking about checking to see if the injectors are getting power casue i can hear the pump, if there not getting power could the injector resistor box have gone bad or does that have nothing to do with giving the injectors power? well what i am asking is if my injectors are not getting power what should i test and look for? thanks a lot for the help its greatly appriated.:thumb:

ok, well after looking at it for a while, i found out i have a bad head gasket, blew in between each cylinder, not sure what went wrong but it didnt seal, it was a 4 pc. mitsu gasket too, im going to go with a mitsu oem composite gasket. now will it having a bad head gasket cause it not to want to run and run very poor? thanks for the help guys.

yea, it will want to fall on its face because you either dont have very high compression or you are leaking oil/water into the cylinder

Uhhh, yes. Did you put this motor together yourself? Either way for it to blow between each cylinder something is VERY wrong. Did you even drive the car? I find it hard to believe a metal headgasket broke in 3 places from idle.

i dont know what happend, i found it odd as hell too, but the timing was set perfectly, i took the head to a different shop this time to get checked out and re-cut, im going with a composite head gasket this time, and yes i did build the engine my self, everything was done to the book, all torque readings followed and everything, i work as a motorcycle tech and i know how the stupid things will get you so i dont half ass anything. but thanks for the help guys!!
