So my week started off great.. got called at 6am from the wife saying the car die... her being kinda blonde at times that could mean anything. Well i hear the motor making a really load noise that was hard to explain. luckly the guy that lives next door heard it and came outside and said its the rod bearing. Well i know that means MAJOR engine rebuild. Our motor and tranny are the orginal and gave 207000 miles. I know that i can get a low miliage motor for about 1500 bucks. My wife is the racer in the house right now and we want all the power we can get from a motor but not break the bank. My questions is what motor or add-on can we do to a motor for 3000 buck or less. Tax money is great but we still have bills to pay and have to pay out mechnic.. If u know anything about beefing up the orginal tranny please all and any help will me great

I'm kinda confused by your post, are you looking for what you could do to the engine itself, like internals? Or are you talking about bolt-ons. if your budget is 3000 including the engine then i would just leave it stock and maybe look for a used 16g or even a 14b, and of course supporting mods.

Im with Maniak. If you want a beefed up tranny look at a shep tranny. But those are expensive but worth the money. And specify what you mean by a "motor add on for less than 3 grand". Theres a lot you can do for that kind of money.

sorry to confuse u guys. we are looking to get more then the stock 210bhp out of the 2.0 turbo motor we have on order. the turbo is a big 16g. my wife like to drag race it at BIR in MN and we have a car club where our car is the center piece no matter where we go. When i sat beef u the tranny im talking about upgrades that can handle the beating it gets on a dragstrip
