Managed to get them transported from my mothers garage to the skunk works.

Cleaned off the old composite

I cant feel any ridges. I should get away with running an MLS and copper spray on the block side :)

Evo 3 OFH. Points oil filter towards down pipe = no bueno

Evo 8 OFH. Points filter to the floor = muy bueno

I also did the balance shaft delete on the oil pump and used the OEM stubby shaft. Those bearings are a PITA to get back in. Funked one up so i need to order a spare.

There was no wear on the inside of the housing from the gears against the housing. I packed it with some starplex grease to keep everything lubed and to help with priming the pump.

Apparently thats what happens when you run more than 19-20psi for prolonged periods (i was running 25psi spiking to 28psi)

I lost a quart of oil during an autocross run through the head. Once that happened i figured the lands went.

Next week on my days off i will drop the motor off at the machine shop.

That could well have been. I was running the evo 8 ecu on the 3 knock sensor for a while which it did not like.

I was told it is a common thing by a few of the other early evo guys on island.

Looking forward to driving it again but that won't be till end of year :(

Ya the evo ecu was definitively a playing factor.. What were you tuning with??? Ive never heard of it being common unless your knocking...But at least it was just lands not something worse that could have left you with a window in your block.. It gets pretty warm there too doesn't it??

I was tuning with ecuflash and evoscan logs. I was definitely getting tons of knock with the earlier knock sensor, not sure if that was phantom or not but the ecu was treating it as if it were real.

It does get damn warm here. I have upgraded the intercooler from an ebay stock replacement core to an AGP "race" 24x12x3.5 bar and plate intercooler off an SRT4 so that should sort that out.

Need to trawl evom for some 2.3L base maps.

Ya judging by your lands im thinking the knock was real LOL.. Sounds like youve got a good plan though so hopefully this wont happen too you again bro... Have you looked into meth injection that would help tremendously with your intake temps..

I have some parts of a kit from my last vehicle. I need a new pump and 2 more nozzles for a directport
