Engine Problems Please Help

I have a 97 RS with a Star Stage 2 turbo kit. Engine has 102k. Engine takes a bit to start you have to pump the gas peddle to get it started, when you do get it started has a descent idle but then begins to sputter and wants to die, little bit of smoke coming from engine bay, has a distinctive sound of leaking exhaust. When driving the car you cant get it full throttle begins to severely bog down, no boost, fells like the engine is losing compression and/or doesn't want to hold it. Thinking it may be a blown h/g, pull dipstick has a slight green tint, but doesn't seam to lose coolant. Any ideas?

These are my ideas of fixing problem and upgrading at the same time:
Pulling motor, rebuilding bottom end with JE 8:1 and replacing, crank, oil pump, water pump, all gaskets, cleaning engine inside and out, boring out the head, getting the head cleaned and balanced. Any more ideas let me know thanks again.

That sounds like a good build up to me, I assume that you already have all the fuel system finished as you have the turbo kit on. Maybe a set of cams just to help with the power band. I'm not sure if I would use JE pistons though, they're great race pistons but I've heard bad things about street use or any extended use for that matter. Maybe some wiseco or ross pistons, and you are going to want to upgrade your rods.

You might want to find out what your problem is before doing a rebuild, just in case it won't be covered by what you are fixing, and for future reference. I'd say start with a compression test, and then let out your oil (is there coolant in it?)/
