hi
i bought this used talon tsi and after a while i found out there are white smoke come out the exhaust. i found out that it is burning on 1st cylinder (#1 @ driver side), i thought was bad headgaskit. so i rebuild the engine and put some aftermarket part in at same time. i have put wiseco piston(cr 9.0:1) and eagle rod,arp head studs, and cometic head gaskit. during rebuild i found out that this engine got some crank walk so i also change all the main bearings. and i just put all parts together and the smoke still happens. i did the cr test and the resule are 190,178,176,180(4.3.2.1). seems right for 9.0 cr. but during idle the vacuum just low( about -10 psi) and unstable. and white smoke still come out the first cylinder( when i remove the spark plug). i dont know what can be the problem??

the part i have changed are piston, piston ring, rod, headgas kit, main bearing, rod bearing,bs remove kit, new timing belt, intake/exhaust gas kit, new water pump.
i didnt rebuild the head.

please help!! i need to use the car for summer school on 7/5 so i kinda only got one shot right now.

thanks lot

have you given the new gaskets time to seat? and the cylinders? give it some time if you have not put about 60 miles yet. and at about 50 make sure that you change the oil if the smoking is really bad then this might not be the issue just a thought thought might help ;)

thank you very much

i will drive around and see what happen

thanks lot

not a problem at all glad to help and hopefully that is all that it is...just do yourself a favor and be VERY gentle with the engine while trying to break it in. and yes as sad as that sounds that means no racing....best off to wait untill you have about 500 miles on it for that ;) . I have about 35 on my brand new re build now and the smoke is getting less and less....(almost gone now actually) I would have to say that for the first 15 miles or so I didn't break 40 mph. after that I started pushing it a little more at a time but only for small periods...that will also help everything seat. and by the way best of luck to you hope it's all running good and I was right :thumb:
oh and by the way if you would like to see a short video clip of my car while we (hubby and I) were breaking it in feel free to e mail or pm me and I can shoot that clip to you. :thumb: :talon:
