Ok I have a 1997 gs spyder shell with a 4g63T 6 bolt in it. I just bought a brand new k&n oil filter and drained the oil. I was about to put the oil filter on, when I noticed that there are two lines right next to or pretty much for the engine oil filter without hoses on them. The lines are pretty much parrellel to each other. What are these lines for? Also where do they get connected to? Thanks any help would be greatly appreciated.

Oil cooler? If it doesnt leak anything from it then its just the oil cooler i mean correct me if im wrong but i had it the same way when i got the car and had no problems just hooked them back up and works fine

You had no problems when they weren't connected? Where do they get connected to? Sorry I'm new to all this.

They are the lines for the factory water-to-oil cooler. The one at the top, or closest to the block, connects to the water pipe. The other one goes up to the thermostat housing. This thread has pictures of from the factory service manual which should help you out. This thread also has a great picture that should help you out. Isn't searching fun! Hope this helps!

So the oem lines go on the block in the same locations as those external oil cooler lines?

The hacker who owned your car before you looped the factory line(s) and bypassed feeding coolant to the oil cooler.

The post or two above me has an install of an aftermarket external oil cooler. So my question is do the oem oil cooler lines get connected in the same spots on the block as the braided external oil cooler lines, shown in the above links in the post above.

The links I posted refer to the factory cooler. The first link is about an external cooler but there is a diagram on that post from the factory service manual, so OEM. It showes exactly where the hoses go. The second thread I linked is just about the factory cooler and has an actual picture of where each nipple on the oil cooler, by the oil filter, goes.
