Whats the difference in 1g mount vs a 2g mount? reason asking is i have a 95 tsi that had a 2.4 6-bolt in it but am placing a 2.0 7-bolt back in it. Will my current mounts work? or is there a difference in the way its bolted to the block.

The differnce between 1g and 2g mounts is the 1g has 3 mounts on the engine and 1 ontop of the transmission. The 2gs have just the timing belt mount and 3 mounts on the transmission. To put a 1g engine in a 2g you remove the 2 factory mount brackets off of the 1g motor (front and rear mounts), and you use the 2g mount bracket from the timing belt side and modify the clearance around the water pump. Then the mount will bolt on like a factory 2g and the other 3 mounts will be on your 2g transmission. Hope that helps.

EDIT: I dont know how I missed that you have the 6 bolt already in the car and are putting a 7 bolt back in.. In that case yes the current mounts will be the same for the new 7 bolt as the 6 bolt is already in a 2g.
 
I believe the 2.4L 6 bolt is the G4CS block out of a late 80's Hyundai Sonata. These (rare) stock cranks in them make for a good stroker, which converts your normal (1G only) 2.0L block to a 2.3L stroker.

What year 7 bolt 2.0L are you putting in there? If you don't mind me saying, the 97.5-99' 2.0L blocks are the best since they are less prone to crank walk problems and at the same time use the 2G crank sensor.
 
Is it a used short block or are you rebuilding the 95'? I wouldn't purposefully select a 95/96 block for anything really, but that's just me ;)

its getting built. why dont u like that block? just the crankwalk?
 
Pretty much. Only time I would run one is if it came in the car already. I'd run it until it dies (if it does), then slap in a better block (98-99 7 bolt or 6 bolt) and not feel the weight on my shoulders :)

It's just with the options available, I also know the facts/chances of each option. And the 95/96 blocks are last on the as-close-to guaranteed list
