Engine Light Comes & Goes

I am new to this site but not to dsm's. My 91 tsi awd's check engine light comes on after the car has been running for about a minute and if i stomp on the gas petal to the floor it goes out. The car will also buck a bit now and then but not every time. Any help or info would be great. Thanks.

just go down to advance auto and get them to check the code, unless you have dsmlink. advance will tell you exactly whats wrong for free

ITs a 1g they dont do them that far back, get a data logger best investment, i ever made dirt cheap palm pilot ebay cable, and free software.

You have to read the code before anyone can do anything but guess at what might be going on.

You can read it yourself with an analog voltmeter, 12v piezo buzzer or 12v LED.

I will try to get a code reader or check it with my multimeter. I kinda thought it may be the o2 but i just needed some extra ideas. After all it is a dsm. If i get this fixed she'll be back to perfect shape again. Tanks

I've had the O2 be completely dead and not get a O2 CEL. I'm guessing something more like a bad TPS but until you read the codes it's just that, a guess.
