I have a 98 RS eclipse. I bought it from this guy for around 3k. Well from what he told me that that ive noticed is that he had a turbo in it which it took it out along with the intercooler. My problem is or rather my question is that when im driving i notice that my check engine lights starts flashing when im around 3500-4k rpms in 5th gear my check engine light starts blinkin. when i back off it goes away. I tried doing the "keydance" nothing responds and ive also took it to autozone to get it read no codes. what is causing the problem. Ive tried to count the flashes but this happens when im driving and honestly im not trying to have my eyes off the road while im driving. could all this be from the guy not setting the car back to non-turbo settings?.....thanks for all the help

out of curiosity what could be causing this " type a misfire"...bad O2 sensors perhaps?

unfortunately i couldn't tell you a common part besides from like common stuff as of Spark plugs/wires/and or coil. But a Type "A" misfire is a result of unburned fuel due to spark/timing or compression issues, or extreme pre detonation which can result in piston and cylinder damage. This is why it blinks to let the driver know an extreme engine concern exist(if prolonged)

btw, not trying to scare you about your motor with all of that. it could very well be an easy fix as and vise vera

If this is an RS with a turbo added, then it could well have a different ECU than the original. My first guess reading this thread was "knock light mod" and I'm not giving up on it yet.

Exactly my first thought as well just from reading the thread title.

alright that tells me alot actually thanks guys i was already concerned about my fuel i notice that my car has been drinking alot of fuel for the distance that i drive. Im going to start with the plugs...,,and if i feel froggy enough ill probably jump and replace my fuel injectors..being that i have almost no clue about cars(except for the basics, like plugs, coils, tires) the fuel injectors should be pretty fun:D

If I'm not mistaken the N/T's ECU is easily accessible in the engine bay. Look for a sticker with a mitsubishi part number on there or even better take a pic.
