Engine Knock

So I was driving my 97 GST home from work today on the Interstate going about 50mph when I heard what sounded like a knock coming from under the valve cover. I pulled off the freeway and checked out the sound and there was a definite knock. checked the oil and I was just a tad low.

2 miles from home and the turbo took a dump and now the knock is massive. just rattling from at a rythmic time. what could be the problem? and what can be done? thanks

there are so many things that this could be you will have to be more specific if you want diagnosis.Like where is the sound coming from generally.

well it sounds like its coming from right under the cam gears, but now that it's louder the whole head is making a racket
