Winston-Salem,
Rebuilding my 1G 6 bolt, and I'm wondering about whether to reuse the original main cap bolts or not. I cant find any specs about max. unstretched length, anybody got specs for that? I got Eagle rods this time with ARP bolts. After reading on several sites, the concensus seems to be torquing/loosening the ARP's at least 5 times to cycle the bolts and get a more accurate (ie repeatable) torque measurement. Anybody have any negative opinions on doing this? If I wind up with new FACTORY main bolts would the same cycling theory apply?

run a nut down the length of the threads of the main cap bolts to check for necking. of there is none then I'd reuse them. Unless you know they were overtorqued before.
