So this might be a stupid question, but I just got a six bolt for 50 dollars and it needs to be bored. It got scratched up when the piston in bank #1 leaned out. I'm not sure on how bad it is yet but I'm wondering if I have to bore the block .40 over should I just have it stroked or keep it a 2.0. Any info or opinions would be greatly appropriated.

yeah. go to a machinist dude. before they can bore it they would need a set of oversized pistons. you cant just get a basic .020 or .040 bore since every piston manufacture is different.

Yeah, like stated above, the machine shop will tell you how much you will need to bore it over and will perform the necessary machine work. As for stroking, it depends on your goals. If your HP goal is <400 then no, don't bother getting it stroked. If its >400 then I would get a stroker kit while you're rebuilding.

Have the machinest look the block over so he can give you an idea of what needs to be done. If their is damage to the cylinder walls then its possible that the motor was run hard and may have other issues.

The 2.0 can make good power and maintain reliability if it is properly built. Since you bought a block for 50$ I am assuming you are not looking to spend a fortune on building a racer so if their is no need to stroke it and you are not looking to make 500hp right now I wouldn't worry about it.

2.0's are capable of the same power, it's just the 2.3's spool quicker and make power quicker in the power-band, which is why Id never take a stroker motor to 9000 rpms like I take my 2.0...Some people like higher revving.

Anyway, take it to a machine shop get it checked out, ask for maganflux too, check for cracks.
