Well I'm driving down the road, and I notice a huge cloud of smoke following me. This has happened to me before, and it was a leaking turbo oil return line. I checked the line, and no leak.

Took the car to the shop, and the mechanic told me I have way to much backpressure, and oil is squirting out of everywhere(dip stick, oil cap, plugs). He says he's 90% sure my piston seals are melted.

-What is my damage?
1.)Whole new engine?
2.)Just shortblock?
3.)Rebuild?
*I'm in CA. Does anyone know a good engine rebuilder? Links on engine options? I'm not going to do any of the work myself. (After a horrible transmission experience, I'm not going to attempt an engine)

Thanx,

Hmmm before you go trusting your mechanic, please do a compression test. If your compression test yields poor results, as in below 140 for any of the cylinders then maybe they are in bad shape. This oil problem can be caused by a number of different things. Oil coming out from under your valve cover might just be caused by a rotting valve cover gasket. The smoke in your exhaust might just be your valve stem seals. Or then again maybe your block is toasted. MAKE SURE BEFORE YOU ASSUME.
