Engine and Transmisison Swap

Alright, I just got asked if I would do some work for a guy.
He asked if I would swap a 2.0 into his eclipse which has a 1.8 right now, and he said he had another car that he wanted me to swap the transmission from. So what he has is 3 talons/eclipses and one has a good engine one has a good tranny and the other one has too small of an engine/no turbo.

Now what I am asking you guys/gals is, about how long of a project would this be, and I really don't know what I should charge him. I haven't taken an engine out of one of these cars yet, I have taken a trans. I am confident in that I can do it, I just don't know what kind of time frame I am looking at, and if there's something that I am just not thinking about that would make this more work than it's worth.

Is the 2.0 a turbo or non-turbo motor?

my guess is turbo because he posted that the one car has a small engine w/ no turbo...i dont think he would specify no turbo, unless he planned on upgrading to a 2.0L turbo motor

I was thinking turbo, but im not 100% positive....do non turbo and turbo motors have the same motor mounts>?

Were you wondering if it was turbo or naturally aspirated just because? Or would it being one of the two make a difference.

Also anybody that has swapped engines or transmissions how long has it taken you?

You have to aslo have to swap the wiring harness if you are going from a N/T to T. Sounds like more trouble that what it is worth. I dont think the motor mounts will interchange aslo. Perhaps you should search to see if it can be done first. If everything goes right, it wont, then I would say a good solid day could have them swapped.

Just found out that the 1.8 has a bad head and the 2.0 going in is non turbo

That might be alot fo work, if I was you I would talk him into swapping the good trans into the car that has the 2.0l in it already.

Yes, it will bolt in Motor and trans into the 1.8 car, your also going to need to switch in the dash wiring and engine wiring, and the fuel pump

I am assuming that there is body damage on the car with the good transmission or something else that makes the chassis unusable, or that he has the 1.8 litre car fixed up to look the way he wants the car.

I am not sure, he told me to come up with a figure...that is another thing I was wondering what some of you guys think is a reasonable price for all this work.

Id say $600 would do it

That's about the price I was thinking too...I doubt he will have any objections to that because thats about what it was going to cost him to get the head fixed on his 1.8

Go for it man down time of about 2 days if ya got all the tools and the hoist and stuff. I suggest pulling the trans off the engine first, dropping the trans and pulling the motor. Good luck

u wont need to change the ecu wire harness,the only difference between the harness is like 4 wires all u need to do is cut four wires and add 4 more,search the internet its directions are somewhere.

Id rather pull the harness that came with the motor and use it
