Alirght could use some advice on how to go about this. I bought a 91 gsx from a buddy of mine who had it sitting at his dads shop for over a year when the tranny got stuck in forth. When we went to start it, we got no spark. I check the power going into the ignition coil packs and the packs were getting power however there was no power coming out of the packs. I looked online and found them new for around 200 bucks but I decided to try one from a local junk yard. I hooked it up and still there was no spark. Now I am wondering if the coil packs are in fact still the problem and the one I bought was no good, or if its another problem entirely. Now for the part I need advice on. I have to replace the tranny anyway cause the one on it is junk (Ive seen some on Ebay for about 400 plus shipping). I was also looking on ebay and found a cyclone engine(200hp dsm engine) and transmission combo with between 35k and 50k miles on them for 1600 shipped to a business address. I was wondering what peoples thoughts were on just swaping them both and not wasting the time trying to fix the engine in it. The car has 180000 on it and the engine looks like its had its time. I guess what I am asking is if that is a good price and if anyone had any exp. with buying engine/trannys on ebay. My other thought is to just buy a block have it machined and build it up from scratch. When I purchased the car I also recieved a ported and polished head w/intake and exhaust manifold attached to it (These have not been installed yet). So if I did decide to do it from the bottom up I would already have that to put on. Sorry for the long post but any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks
