Ok...I have a 1994 Talon Dl. I just replaced the Right rear caliper(E-Brake) So it shouldnt be the Caliper. On the on caliper when it will drop below 40 degrees it would stick...in either the on or off position.when i goto pull the handle its really hard until i feel/ hear a pop and the lever goes limp and the brake is completely locked. It is doing the same thing with the new Caliper. The new caliper has been on the car for about a month and a half. What do you guys think the problem could be? Thanks Aaron:talon: :talon: :talon:

I always have the same problem and from what I heard that's just how it is with our cars. You can't use the ebrake when it's cold out. Which really sucks if you live in a hilly area. In fact my current problem is that I forgot to keep my ebrake down the other night. It froze of course (warmed my car up for 20 minutes that morning) and it still didn't unfreeze so I had to ride it off because I had to go to school. Since then it basically ruined my rotor. It left something on the rotor or scratched it and now when I brake it makes an extremely annoying loud noise. There might be some type of replacement but for as far as I know thats how our's are stock. :(

Mine also does the same thing. I just leave it in gear. If you pull it up and the parking brake handle becomes limp, just pump the brakes a couple of times until it stiffens back up. My rear brakes are brand new as well.

I dont think my rear brakes are like that...like if i pump them the cable on the EBRAKE will stiffen up.i dont get it. It never did it before...until this winter. Could it be the cable itself? I WOULD LIKE TO BE ABLE TO WARM MY CAR UP!

The little booties on the e-brake cable (at the cable housing where it mounts to the caliper bracket) can rip and let water in.

It will travel down the cable a bit, and then when it get's cold enough, it'll freeze, locking the cable in position.

New cables are available from jnz tuning, (among others.)

YOUR THE MAN! BIG UPS!:thumb: :thumb: :thumb: :beatentodeath: (substitute horse for brake assembly)

:tease: I only know this from experience.

I noticed I ripped the boot when I was doing the rear brakes.

I pulled that little clip so I could pull the cable housing back out of the caliper bracket, and when I tried to pull the cable through, I got the little bootie pinched in the bracket, and shrederfied it when I pulled the cable through.

It froze up that night... ROFL

Now, when I do the rear brakes, I pull the booty off the cable housing and slide it down the cable, toward the cable end, out of harms way before I start pulling the cable housing out of the bracket. That way, I can't get it caught up when I pull the cable through.

Haven't vandalised one since. :thumb:

Cheers!
