where could i pick up a 12-ohm resistor? also it is for a car(my talon) so i am assuming i need 1 watt to drop the 12v (i know its 12.6 but i figure i will lose the .6 to the wire and other crap)

Have you tried Radio Shack? They usually have all sorts of goodies like that, just go in there knowing what you are looking for as the people they employ are usually of little help to anybody.

radio shack does not carry them in my area, i tried 3 of them around here. and i looked in the radio shack catalog that the store orders from
