electronic problem

95 eclipse rs decided to stop working today, I've always had problems with my car having a check engine light come on and off randomly, every time it would go off the car would seem to have a jerking motion kind of like turbulance or something, what happened this morning was I was driving out and all of a sudden my speedometer and rpms went down to zero, the car ran another 5-10 seconds but soon afterwards cut off all together, I try to start it up but it just kept turning over. I've had problems with wires touching something hot and almost melting on me. So my guess is it is something to do with the electrical - but some input would help, much appreciated.

Your description is extermely vauge. Have you had the check engine light inspected, if so what codes? What wires were getting hot on what thing... look at that question, and then look again and then re-post with some more info, people can't help you if we have no idea what you're trying to explain.

yes - the engine light has been inspected, had to do with the some secondary air flow that we could never figure out, can't remember the code, but we left it alone. Some wires under the throttle body were starting to get real hot and made the car shake a lot and not accelerate as fast. We moved them out of the way and problem solved. Right now I know I won't get a perfect solution on how to fix this, all I'm asking is for some input - something to check, other peoples experiences. Because for all I know it's nothing electrical at all. So help me out with some suggestions on what it could be and what to look for please.
