i may be getting a Laser RS (FWD, TURBO) soon, so i need to know what boost controllers you can set to the gear, soy you don't get high boost and spin off the line as bad.

I am looking for cheap ones to, im 16 and on a budget.

BTW if i get AWD ill go with MBC.(thats a good idea right)

thnx for te help

i dont really know much about EBC's but i would be able to venture a guess that the greddy ($100) can do anything that you would have the need to do. im sure if you do a search maybe of "electronic boost controllers" im sure you will find something of use

Apexi has one that you can choose different boost levels for different gears I think, but get ready to drop some $$$ for it.

the drive type dosnt really make a impact on what kind of boost controller you should get. really its how much boost you will be running. but if your 16 and on a budget im thinking you might not upgrade turbo right away. if this is true you will be fine with a manual boost controller just MAKE SURE you have a aftermarket boost gauge before you turn the boost up. stock ones are no good. when you do get a bigger turbo you might want to go to electronic or get a ported 02 housing or maybe a external wastegate so you wont have problems with boost creep. if you search you can find info about all of that. but for now i say just go with a manual boost controller and you'll be fine..

by the way on a budget eh? get the joe p manual boost controller $50:thumb:

Lol, i post in the newbie section and i get labled that.

my next turbo will proly be a 16G, but i dont' want ot get it right away...thatll be after i do soem show mods(yes on a 1G)

First mods will prolly be

Turbo back
MBC

IC pipes
BOV - (for sound OMG)

$100 for a EBC???>??? sign me up LOL

They are at least $300.00

Yeah, you are going to pay a lot more than 100 for an electronic. I paid 315 for my Profec-B.

just be cool like me and buy a 10$ MBC off ebay and pay 5$ shipping...

why pay 300-500 dollars for a ebc, or 75-200 fora MBC when u can get cheap ones of ebay for 10 bucks a pop... LOL

it works just as good as any MBC ive ever seen... (get ball and spring)

My hallman MBC allowed my turbo to spool 30+ psi... now only if i wanted it to....

Greddy PRofec -II, one of the most useful things my girlfr... i bought for my car

The mbc is great with a boost gauge...but must u have to stop and pop ur hood to turn the boost up..the only thing i see over the mbc really is that fact u can control gain and start boost which is really nice..gain is how fast the Gate opens..good luck with ur mods

haha didnt mean it like that bro

go make a mbc for 3 dollars.

Not too sure but can't you get a manual dual stage boost controller. if so i would get that. I stand by manaul 100%. But my car came with an HKS EVC and i love it. Nothing like being able to change your boost at the push of a button. Ever been at a light with a car when you wish your boost was turned up but there's nothing you can do well with electric you'll never have that problem again.

Hell yeah. I have a Greddy Profec B Spec II. Paid only 240 for it...used but in great condition. It's awesome. Set it on low boost when you dont wanna boost and waste unnecessary gas, then switch it to high when you wanna take someone on the highway or let that blow off valve rip. Money well spent right there.

You have to ask yourself though, "how often are you going to be changing psi levels"? I have an apexi avc-r myself. I would have never bought it on my own, but it came with my car. It is a very nice feature, but it will cost you.

So it comes down to..."Is electronic boost control worth approx. $200 more than a mbc"?

I say no. I'm actually thinking about selling mine and putting that saved money towards something else.

well if you want to sell ti let me know, and i may get it, but ill rpoly stick with a MBC

sure i thought the same thing... mbc is good enough for me. Worked fine for the summer months, Then the temperature droped. THere went its accuracy and in came 30+ psi boost spikes. Spiked so bad i would be hitting fuel cut with 580 injectors...

If your gonig to have a fast spooling turbo like me (t-28 killer), i really recommend an EBC like the Greddy PRofec spec-II. Lo/High setting for bad weather... boost gain... adjust to wastegate response... turns down the boost automatically if it gets to high...

yes its not for everyone. like every mod.. depends on the application. But just because you got $3 boost control, doesnt mean everyone else will...

well i don't plan on upgrading my turbo for awhile, stock boost is what 8-10? ill turn it up to 14 (thats ok right??)

If you don't plan on running more than 14, then a EBC isn't necessary. It's when you want to go real high!!
