after getting the battery and alternator tested my electrical problems still continue...both the battery and alternator tested good.....i can start the car normally once my battery is fully charged but when i disconnect the battery from the car ...it immediately dies...normally this would mean its the alternator right...but that tested good....so now i think something is draining current from my battery....also the car has no power...meaning no power locks, windwows, seat belts, or security unless the car is turned on and running.....i have discconnected my cd player and amp thinking that might be it...but something is still draining my battery because my voltage reading is between 12-12.4 volts while the car is running....which is a bit low if i'm not mistaken....anyone have any ideas as to where i can look for current being drained or any common places...im all out of ideas and i need my car asap.....please help....

Have the rectifier bridge assembly on the alternator checked, not just the alternator output. If the bridge that converts AC to DC has a bad diode in it, it will drain the battery. And cause what you are describing to happen. If it turns out bad replace the alternator.

Perfect.

Make sure your terminals aren't corroded also on the battery and that everything is grounded properly.

Thanks

i've had the alternator tested and i have replaced 2 alternators just this week....is this a test that they already run when testing an alternator or do i have to ask for it specifically when i get it tested....? either way...i'll give this a try as well...thanks..

any other ideas....!!??

You usually have to ask them to test it most times they just do an alternator output test, and occasiony, but very rarely they'll do a full feild test on the alternator. Just ask them to check if the rectifier bridge assembly is working as advertised.

You can test it yourself.
Run a test light in line with the positive battery cable and the positive terminal. Then disconnect the alternator one plug at a time. If the light dims bad alternator.
