Hey guys; I just got back from my brother's house moving him ,and we trailered his vehicle home with us so i could try to fix this major pain in the rump.
His vehicle is a 97 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS Spyder.
Quick history of issues: When I first looked at the vehicle, The car would run right but didn't charge the battery or keep it charged. Also, when you turned the lights on The horn would go off nonstop. When you turned the lights off, they both wouldn't turn off until you disconnect the battery.
I looked under the engine fuse box, and the fuses were all good but the alternator fuse, which was blown. We replaced it. Now, the car runs for maybe 10 seconds then is seems like it's only running on two cylinders, the motor is very rough and shakes like it'll pop off the motor mounts. Once you take out the alternator fuse, it runs off the battery fine again. (If the battery was charged). I then replaced the alternator, thinking it may be the culprit. Still, no luck.
-side note:Recently I found out he may have accidentally jumped the car wrong with the terminals switched.
So, Major Issues:
-Lights come on,sound horn, and neither will turn off until the battery is d/c'd
-Engine runs really rough with alternator fuse plugged in, and fine with it out.
-New alternator
I heard I may have a fried ECU or ECM on my hands. Thanks for any information and / or help you may have.
